I have had the opportunity to visit various fitness establishments such as Blink Fitness, Executive Fitness, Xtreme Fitness, and Planet Fitness, and I must say that Retro Fitness stands out in terms of its expansive and well-appointed facilities. They have recently upgraded a significant portion of their exercise equipment, incorporating top-of-the-line machines to enhance the gym's offerings. What truly sets this gym apart is its spacious layout, complete with amenities like a sizable movie theater featuring cardio bikes, dedicated areas for deadlifts, multiple squat stations, and various bench setups. In essence, Retro Fitness caters to a wide range of fitness needs.
From a financial perspective, Retro Fitness also excels, with a competitive pricing structure of $26.11 per month, coupled with a reasonable $50 yearly maintenance fee. When you calculate the combined cost, averaging approximately $30.27 per month, it becomes evident that Retro Fitness offers excellent value for the services provided. Comparing this to other local options like BQE Fitness and gyms in Long Island City, Retro Fitness consistently offers a superior cost-to-benefit ratio.
Moreover, the gym's staff exhibit a friendly and helpful demeanor, complemented by the presence of a well-equipped smoothie bar. I have found their maintenance and repair services to be notably efficient, ensuring that malfunctioning equipment is promptly addressed—a notable departure from the lengthy delays encountered at certain other fitness establishments.
As a suggestion, it would be advantageous if Retro Fitness were to consider expanding its presence to the Jackson Heights area, particularly given the less-than-ideal public transportation options along Northern Boulevard.
In summary, I wholeheartedly recommend giving Retro Fitness a try; it is a fitness establishment that is sure to exceed your...
Read moreI used to love going to this gym, but after finding out that I won't get a refund because of the lack of communication and mismanagement that this gym offers, I cannot recommend this gym. It all started with my subscription not being canceled and instead frozen due to miscommunication with the staff. I got charged an annual fee and a subscription fee earlier this month and spoke to two staff members from the desk. They told me that the manager would help me resolve the matter and that it was a miscommunication on their end. I sent an email to the manager in hopes of fixing this matter right away. Unfortunately, that's not what happened at all and instead they made it harder for me to get my money back for something I didn't do! The manager takes forever to respond and didn't resolve the matter. Instead, he told me that in his system the staffer froze my account and therefore didn't even bother listening to my side of the story. I explained to them the situation and told them that I canceled my account last year of August and they said they can freeze the account for 6 months or completely cancel. Even if I did decide to freeze my account, my bank would of notified me about a charge being made by them late Jan or early Feb. NOT OCTOBER, this is before covid folks! Bottom line is, if you're planning on unsubscribing please double check and make sure that they did! I cannot recommend...
Read moreOverall mid gym, but you get what you pay for. There are a few gripes that may or may not be within control of the management/employees here.
Firstly, with such a minimal overhead cost, and an easy solution to a pretty major problem at this gym, is a parking lot. Normally I’d say there’s no space since we’re in Astoria/lic. However, there is a fully empty parking lot directly across that has been out of commission since Amazon took over shopping. Of course i am referring to Best Buy. They have a section of their lot that has not been used in over a decade guaranteed, why doesn’t management or ownership attempt to secure at least a small part of it to give guests a better experience?
Secondly, this gym has turned into a high school cafeteria. The crazy part is I’m not even referring to the actual high schoolers that attend this gym. I know this is not in the gyms control, and there will be no negative rating for it, but this gym is a sitcom. You have a constant group of 10-12 males and females that choose to come during prime time and proceed to hog up each type of powerlifting rack for an hour at a time. Like i said, this has nothing to do with the gym, just a general complaint.
You get what you pay for. Giuseppe is also a great worker, just...
