Quick highlights: Indoor plant was INFESTED with millipedes and at least 3 other types of bugs I couldnāt identify (Iām talking 20 within sight at the top of the soil with more under the soil)
Literal LIZARDS only found in tropical places were found within the same houseplant
Waited on the phone to talk to someone about the plant/bug/lizard situation for 28 MINUTES, finally answered and said āplease holdā was put in hold again, and a minute later they disconnected the phone.
This is not a review I would be expecting to write but here it is:
I purchased an indoor house plant (snake plant) at this location. The old man ringing me up creeped me out and made some weird comments but I brushed it off and left. As for the plant, at first loved it. It was a gift for my roommate. It was beautiful. If I were writing this 2 weeks ago it would have been 4-5 star based off of the plant alone. (The customer service is a whole different story)
Fast forward to this weekend, my cat was acting out of sorts, afraid, staring at random corners and running away in fear. I was starting to believe my new apartment had a ghost š but it was not a ghost at all⦠as I was cleaning my apartment I see what looks like a very small dust bunny. But no IT WAS A BABY LIZARD. I was so confused how is there a lizard in my NYC apartment? There is no way how did this get here? I brought him to a local pet shop (because apparently I have a new pet) who identified him as a Brown Bahamian Anole š³ that can only survive in tropical environments. After piecing the puzzle together, I realized the only possible way he could have entered my apartment was on that snake plant. Still even after all of this, depending on how you look at it, I have a new pet (named Randal) which I thought was cool (my roommate would probably beg to differ) through the confusion and comedy I found it entraining. I chose to look at it positively and think wow I bought a plant and got a bonus lizard
The reason why I am rating this Home Depot with 1 star is because when I went to inspect the plant⦠not only did it transport at least one lizard into my home, but over 55 MILLIPEDES AND OTHER BUGS. (Randal did not complain about this part obviously and thatās probably how he survived) According to my google research, Millipedes are very harmful to plants, and the infestation was so bad that I donāt know if it could have even been treated. This knocked down the star rating to 2/5
Finally, as I called the store to ask how to treat the problem, inform them that their plants have live lizards and infestation of bugs, and to see what the return policy is (no way I want to keep a bug infested plant in my apartment) I waited on hold for 28 minutes, to be put on hold a second time, and then finally hung up on without speaking to anyone.
Now I am left $30 short and had to get rid of the plant I gifted my roommate
Pros: I have a new pet lizard Cons: customer service is terrible, reptiles, harmful bugs with also come home with you that could most definitely infest your home, no more...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWhen I came to return shades - the supervisor Devin Wayne managed to turn around my terrible experience from the previous day to an excellent one. He accepted my return without me waiting on line, went with me to the window decoration department, supervised the measuring and cutting process, went with me to the cashier and even presented me with an unexpected discount because I had to come to return those shades in terrible snow/rain. People like Devin Wayne make the image of Home Depot professionally excellent and humanly warm. I have to leave four stars on the account of the terrible experience with salesperson Veronica I had the previous day.
On the previous day I was waiting 23 minutes while she was helping people who had come earlier than me and after she finished with them she picked up a person who had just come at the time when the customers I was waiting for were leaving and was busy with them for another 15 minutes. I went to look for another person to help me because I was very upset with such unfairness. The person who was sitting in front of the computer in that department, an Indian gentlemen, told to me that there is nobody to take my complaint or to help me beside that salesperson ā Veronica. He told to me that the same salesperson Veronica is also the supervisor and I can complain to her! He did not tell me his name and just sent me back to her. To punish me for walking around and trying to complain, Veronica cut both shades I was buying 2 inches shorter than my old shade I had brought as a reference. With a nice smile she told to me ā to please come again. So I came again the next day to return the short shades, Veronica was off.
I think that it could be very helpful for the people who work there to have their names placed on their aprons so that they can be accountable for their service. This way a customer does not have to write something like āIndian gentlemanā and this gentleman would be not able to insult the customer with an ugly lie and feel good about himself. I live nearby, just a 30 minuteās walk, and have been coming to that Home Depot for the last ten years pretty often and most of my experiences with the service is on the good side.
Besides this one - with Veronica and Indian gentleman team - I had only one really ugly experience, the man who was really bad professionally and very wicked as a human. I can understand if the salesperson does not know something but I cannot understand rudeness and wickedness. Most personnel of the Home Depot are good natured people and some of them are even very nice and sweet. I read one feedback here about small and terrible bathroom - probably this is an error. The bathroom is big, very clean and always plenty of...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreDo you the other negative reviews you've been reading are overdramatic? Try ordering something for express delivery from this place. My order had to be divided into three parts for some reason. The first part was delivered in pretty good time, the second a day late. The third, which was the actual stuff that I really needed, I waited for all day on the scheduled delivery day. After no one showed up, I called the store and first of all they told me I wasn't home at the time delivery was attempted (not true!). Then they told me that the delivery had been rescheduled... for 3 days later. Wow. All day I sat waiting and apparently the driver rescheduled around midday. I never received an email, text or phone call. If Home Depot was under obligation to pay me for the time I've wasted trying to get this delivery to my house it would be far more money than what I spent on this order. The most helpful person at this store was Shawntez, who tried to arrange for the delivery to happen the day after it was scheduled, but unfortunately her good intentions didn't influence the people on the following shift. Everyone else did their best to dismiss me and act like it's completely normal for an express delivery (read: within 24 hours according to their website) to take four days. I demanded a refund for the $80 I spent on express delivery, and it seemed that giving me that refund gave them license to postpone the delivery until whenever they pleased. They hire drivers on contract who have no idea what they're doing and delivered the shelves with scratches and dents in them. One of the drivers for the smaller items that were delivered tried to convince me that I didn't need to sign his copy of the delivery form (when it clearly said "customer signs here"), which, by the way, had incorrect information on it stating that items had already been delivered which hadn't been. Long Island City Home Depot, your customer service is the worst vibe ever. This is real folks. Save your sanity and go local (this place called Crest Hardware in Williamsburg is convenient, cheap, and the staff is super friendly and helpful. I am kicking myself for having caved and ordered through Home Depot instead of there because I thought a home delivery had to be more convenientāI was proven SO WRONG), or at least switch to Lowe's. Home Depot OFFERS a lot of convenient servicesāthe problem is that they don't actually...
