We heard great reviews about Sweetspot and decided to give it a try for our son’s 4th birthday party. The private parties were booked for the day I inquired about so we had to book the shared playroom party option. Normally, that would be fine but as it’s the middle of winter it was jam packed with open play children and parties, to the point of uncomfortable and overcrowded. The decor and cleanliness of this place is 5/5. The party was easy to book and they were responsive to our requests prior to the day of the party. They had decor options (which I got the same decorations for my son’s actual birthday a few days ago for quarter of the price- FYI they charge $400 for decorations which included a latex balloon arch, a happy birthday sign, a cardboard cupcake tower and some plates and napkins from Amazon). The organizational skills need work. I guess I was expecting a little help with trying to get the 4 year old children in the room when it came time to have pizza/cake of which none was provided so think of this like an event space and you have to coordinate the party yourselves. There is no speaker system so there was no way to call the children besides yelling (In my experience of hosting childrens’ parties, I would be responsible for getting the kids together for pizza, cake, etc.). I would recommend not allowing open play for the public during times of private parties (the weekends) and either charging more for the party or charging for add ons like face painting, characters, interactive experiences like dancing to offset that “loss” (it wouldn’t be a loss because it would be a better experience for everyone involved- including the staff and owner(s). Additionally, there should be someone appointed to manage a specific party and help be a little organized so that parents are not running around like chickens with no heads the entire time and everyone enjoys the space. The food options were good, but the logistics need work. There was no serve-ware available for the food that was ordered for us for guests and some of our order (soft drinks) were brought in much later than needed, although they did give us a $50 credit for this mishap) This is a cute place with potential in a great, busy area so these are just some suggestions for the future and I am sure people who had parties and/or came in for open play would agree. I would come back for open play...
Read moreIt's a very nice place for toddlers and young kids. I love taking my 13 month old baby here. Floor cushion everywhere. Staff is nice. Almost completely baby safe, almost. Safer than a outdoor park. Few issues doe. One is some kids bleed all over the place. After a day care left, alot of the plastic balls in the pit had blood on them. Not sure how you can clean hundreds of balls or even if the pit gets someway disinfected at the end of the day. Found fresh wet blood on the floor but staff cleaned it up immediately after I mentioned it to them. So yea, that's just kids I guess. Second is some parents dont care what their kids do and dont say nothing to them when it comes to close boundaries. Some kids are just completely wild. My baby is a sweet child and there was a few times where I had to ask children to get away from us. Trying to hit him with plastic shopping carts or even holding on to me. But yea, that's just some brooklyn parents that let their child do whatever they want, not playing attention to them. Kids will be kids right, its not their fault. Not to say all parents there are like that. Met a few awesome parents in here. Still give this place 5 stars because it's a huge area compared to others in brooklyn and the price isn't bad. 2 parents and child, $26 for 2 hours. Everyone needs socks aswell. Definitely recommend this place. Just watch out for some dirty areas as I mentioned. Also has a party room. Would recommend calling before coming as if there's a large party, it could get very crowded with kids all over the place. We got lucky as two groups of children just left and had the place...
Read moreWe love this places! But I will only give 4 stars because… It would be interesting to always get one person at the white gate as it is mainly for small children and is not safe. The big ones always mix with the small ones, I always warn at reception that the big ones are going to crush the little ones at some point because they don't respect them, they throw their toys in the air, especially those in the playground with the wooden blocks. On the slide, big children overtake smaller ones and hurt them. It would be interesting to separate this. When it's a birthday party there's also chaos, and besides, there's a reason to put a person in charge at the white port because it's very easy to go in there and pick up your child while you're inside. The park that has wooden blocks is so dangerous for children, they can easily swallow the small wooden blocks, in seconds, you can blink and children can swallow them. These are my points to improve... Then I'll come back and leave another review. The place would need to be an environment for the country to also rest, but it is a place where you are always attentive, paranoid because a big child is running around and could touch your child,...
