Marina Clothing — Attraction in New York

if i could give ZERO stars i would! i bought a dress online that didn’t make it on time even with expedited shipping so i went in today in search for a last minute dress. i had to greet the ladies who were seated and they did not seem welcoming to me what so ever. i told the lady i was in search for a dress for a ball and that i had ordered a dress but did not come in time. i said i would like something similar to the dress i ordered online and showed her a picture. she had the nerve to ask how much did i pay for the dress. i answered saying $200 which she replied “we only sell dresses here $500 and up” i said ok well i mean what do you have then that maybe is close to something like this. she answered “nothing” and basically didn’t show me not one dress. when i answered “ really nothing ?“ she answered “absolutely “. she looked so serious and did not even at least apologize or say “well i have nothing similar , but here are a few that would be nice on you .” i was willing to drop $500-$700. she treated me as if i was beneath her and didn’t have the money. maybe it was because i’m hispanic or maybe it was because i was dressed very casual and inexpensive . i mean i just worked 9 hrs and been searching for a store right afterwards. never judge a book by its cover. i was getting a dress for a military ball. i also work for the city of new york. i was completely disgusted and felt so unwelcomed. their store looked sloppy too like it would be a hassle to even go through...

My mother spent over $1000 at the store and Maria is usually very accommodating. However, yesterday my mom and I went to exchange a dress for a different color and Marina yelled and screamed it was embarrassing. All we wanted was to change her dress from white to a different color because it’s a bridal event and she feels uncomfortable wearing white if she is not the bride. We even brought my aunt to look at dresses, but after witnessing such behavior she did not want to even look. We always want to support a local a business and this was an unfortunate experience. We tried to be nice and all we wanted was to exchange it. If Marina would have been a little more understanding this would have been a very different review. Wish I could give 0 stars. Owner is horrible and a bully. From experience AND these other reviews I can see how she body shames people and makes them feel horrible about themselves. She herself is overweight so I wonder why she chooses to take her insecurities out on her customers. It’s sad and it’s truly pathetic. Never met such a horrific woman in my life. The fact that she is replying to these comments saying “it’s her bread and butter” so “don’t leave reviews like this” is INSANE. If this is her bread and butter maybe she should start treating those who pay her bills with RESPECT and work on herself before judging others. I hope this business closes down and no one spends a dime here. MAYBE THEN Marina will start to think about her...
