No sane person doesn't love the ferry. I've been riding it since I was a toddler, and it's still the same, and still wonderful! One problem is that so many people want to take their cars across (probably just for the novelty) that there can be huge back-ups at both ends, leading to tons of pollution while drivers wait to board the 3-vehicle ferry. Even in the summer and on busy weekends, when there may be three ferries crossing the channel, it takes a long time when only 3 cars fit. The ride takes about ten minutes, so, if you wait to board for a half hour, the reward is thin. But if you walk or ride a bike, you never have to wait. Just walk right on, grab a spot on the benches that line the ferries (they resemble a motorized barge) and enjoy the wonderful harbor views and the bracing salt air. This area is relatively unknown to tourists, and even many angelenos. The Balboa/Lido islands and Balboa/Newport peninsula are all very dense, walkable and bikeable communities. They're all so damned cute, with beaches and yachts everywhere you look. Real estate herer is off-the-chart expensive, but walking is free, and renting a beach house is within reach to most families, but best enjoyed on...

Kids had a wonderful time. I went with my 2 daughter 3 grandchildren and another grandma. I went to the restroom and was shocked. The worst filthy bathroom I have ever been to. Wet floors around the toilet. Toilet paper In all the stalls on floor. Women’s dirty sanitary napkins just laying on toilette paper container. No soap, no paper towels. And smelled. no toilet seat covers at all. We spent so much money for those kids to ride play arcade rock climb the tree eat etc. I think this amusement park can afford to have more for these bathrooms. I went to 4 places who sell coffee and not one of them had decaffeinated coffee. Went bs k to the paid parking and could not get into drivers side due to a camper who parked right next to us....

The balboa Island ferry is super rad, the ferry has been a major part in the overall function of Balboa Island and the Balboa peninsula. I can't believe the BS that California has thrown at the ferry. Converting these boats over to electric power is absolutely ridiculous. It's going to cost the customers tremendous amount more to go across the bay. State of California is so stupid but I will continue to support the ferry Even after they go fully electric because of my memories of the Boats go back to my childhood, I literally have been going across this ferry since the day I was born and it's one of my favorite tourist attractions. Whenever I have guest come in from out of town we always make sure we Create a route that...

As mentioned for the Balboa Peninsula side, it’s a great deal for the money! For those who wish to take a boat ride across the harbor, this is a cheap and simple way to ride across as individuals, with or without a vehicle. The regularity of the rides avoids the need for long waits, high fees and minimum ridership of scheduled rides. It’s not glamorous, but adds a dimension of harborside adventure to an otherwise island based day!

If you like to see wonderful views of the Balboa channel and/or Newport beach, a short ferry ride will achieve that. While on the ferry, you will see the beautiful boats anchored on the sea facing houses and the sights and sounds are wonderful to behold. This is a quintessential Southern California experience and a must-see. It might be a 30 - 40 minute wait to get the ferry ride. However, its all worth it.

This is a great shortcut getting on and off the island but it is also very fun it only cost $2 for a car and driver an additional dollar for a passenger. Sometimes there is a line to get on and can take a while but most times there is little to no wait. If you like you could walk on you do not need a car or bring your bike. Night time on the ferry is cool!
