Living on Cape Cod, the familiar site of Long ocean Sandy Beach and highly overcast. Air was certainly a familiar sight upon walking the beach the highly noticeable differences from our beaches at home the amount of debris from birds, which is a lot of multiple different kinds my main reasoning, of course, Seaglass, and which I found small abundance of, however, was little disappointed that was 90% new glass.. if this is your hobby, then you know that’s kind of a disappointment at least for me. It is my pleasures are finding old pieces with old stories. however, every piece of the treasure therefore added to my secret collection. They keep very good care of beach landscapes in RI , during MY visit they were currently raking with large excavators. Overall a great beach and it I based my personal ratings on normal overall scoring it would certainly go up a star for ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️however my main reason for visiting any beach is most definitely based upon seaglass findings there. Since I actually research 80% of the beaches prior to and being about 1 hr and 15min drive from home with about 2 handfuls of glass being reduced to one after the separation of shells (&other cool keeps) and ones not matured enough ( always throw back to creator during the start of my very next beach walk for many more years to mature! Great huge stretch of nice smooth sandy, CLEAN beach with lots of anticipated shop and amenity openings i assume very soon as we are approaching are season of the sunny summer weather. However if you are an avid glass collector don’t make it your only stop if your traveling afar because I didn’t get any wow factors with the ones I found. My best was probably the chipped bottom from old blue CC glass green/blue bottle and tan with dark brown chipped paint size of quarter pottery. Whatever your journey, I hope you Enjoy what Easton Beach...
Read moreOne of the top 10 New England beaches. It is also called First Beach and is the largest in Newport, RI. It's 3/4 miles long with plenty of benches and has a boardwalk; the Cliff Walk trail is located nearby. Downtown Newport is also located nearby; it's a walkable city with beautiful vista. Since it's summer, they have the summer concert series and free parking on those nights after 4 pm. However, during the day, there are parking fees.
Unfortunately, they're tearing down the carousel and snack bar, I'm sure due to old age. However, there are food trucks, restrooms, and a playground. The rotunda and bathhouse are closed but expected to be open in 2025 due to the demolition of the carousel and snack bar.
This beach holds a special place in my heart because that was where I got married. We loved the venue and the vintage carousel. The rotunda was spacious and staff were helpful. The views of the ocean and bay from up there were breathtaking. We had a photo op on the carousel which was fun. Our ceremony took place right on the beach. The day on the beach was beautiful even after a passing rain shower. The only downfall that day was the red tide; it was an infestation of red algae. All in all, this beach is a lovely place with a great memory attached...
Read moreI wouldn't call myself a beach lover per se but this beach is great in my book! I've also been to Second beach a few times and I think prefer Easton even with the abundance of icky red seaweed. If you're lucky to find parking on the weekend you can enjoy the beach then rinse off and try the cliff walk about 10 minute walk away from the entrance.
The snack bar is also a great draw for me since we got the twin lobsters for $18 and with fries. They also have a few other tasty options and food/beverage trucks (i.e. Del's). Near where the trucks park is a picnic seating area to relax and eat. Right above they also have a cool carousel that kids and families can enjoy!
The beach and bathrooms are surprisingly clean at least when I went. They do have porta potties for when there's an influx of people. I might sound like a fuddy duddy but I do wish that the lifeguards or beach patrollers were more strict about people smoking! I spent an hour inhaling the flavored tobacco fumes from an oblivious beach bum's pipe.
Overall if I was forced to go to a beach in New England I wouldn't mind...
