Appeared to be training staff, but not well. Many young ladies working here who don't seem to understand work ethic. There were discussions happening about who was going to wait on or not wait on tables, who got better tips, some preferred to watch the many televisions around the restaurant. Not impressed with that.
However, we had Kendra. She seemed new, but had a great attitude, took our order and came back to let us know that they didn't have something we had requested (real maple syrup). We so appreciated this because it caused two of us to change our order (we don't eat the fake stuff). She could use training to ask about water or top off coffee, but again we think she was newer and didn't hold it against her. We were glad she was our waitress when thinking about the other things going on on the floor.
The food was pretty good. We had two omelettes at our table and both came without a bottom to the omelette... Never seen that before, but the egg part did seem fresh and not from a carton, and the filling had great flavor. Toast was a bit on the crunchy side but not burnt, so I am not sure if the bread was going stale or what was happening. I did appreciate that they had a tart juice this morning. I ordered grapefruit. The bacon was great. The chorizo sausage was good, not too spicy but had good flavor. We drink coffee black. It was VERY hot. Flavor wise slightly above average.
Out of the places we went to breakfast in Middletown, we would come here again despite the things we witnessed with staff because the food was good and we didn't have to wait for a table, also was within walking distance of the hotel and had a crosswalk by the parking lot which was...
Read moreVisited Nov 12, 2023. Very busy local place. Be prepared to wait, it will be worth it. Trying to find parking is not fun. There is parking directly in front and a parking lot to the side, but it's packed! Ambiance is great. Family friendly, all ages were there. There is a full bar with seating at one end and tables and booths everywhere else. Pic posted is of the "Lobster Benny" (Benedict) special, but on grilled cornbread. There is another Benny that comes on the cornbread, but at a friend's recommendation I got the Lobster Benny on it instead of an english muffin. SO. GOOD. Some of the meals come with toast, home fries, and coffee/juice included. Meal portions are fairly large. They also offer iced coffee. The server (who I was told has been there for a long time) was attentive when she was around. We didn't really need anything else/extra and she didn't forget anything. She did ask how everything came out and didn't come back until she (maybe) noticed we were done. But a brief mid-meal check-in would've been nice. Otherwise, fantastic service, food and ambiance! Oh! The "Specials". Your server will not tell you about them. There is no special menu sheet provided. They are written on a chalkboard in the center section on the back wall. It's not easy to read from the entrance/ waiting area. Take a look there for something different. On my visit it was Lobster Benny, Biscuits and gravy, and...
Read moreThese guys could be great Nicely decorated and modern layout designed to accommodate a lot of guests. The food is good to very good usually with the occasional lapse into quite bad. Problems start when you consider the wait staff. Seems to consist mostly of young, entitled girls more interested in what’s on their phone than customer service. Of course customer service is their chosen path to financial gain, so there’s a conflict. Not clear what the issue is, but I’ve waited over 30 minutes for change for a check I paid with cash. Normally when they disappear you can find them huddled at one of the wait stations reviewing the latest teen drama or glued to the phone. I guess I’m describing just about all younger people infiltrating the working world and I understand it’s just about impossible to run a business without hiring al least some, but I suggest management here tries a little more supervision of their girls on the floor. The older waitresses are generally good but the whole place is dragged down by the climate of grudging, intermittent service provided by the younger ones. Personally I’ve given up and don’t go here anymore because of the above. I used to go every day...
