I absolutely love this place so I'm not going to leave anything but 10 stars, but they’ve got one guy that just wanted to do everything possible to make my time here miserable, so it’s only getting 5. Was here not too long ago and ordered two canned drinks upstairs. I didn't tip and the guy behind the bar made a point to call me out on it soon after and was pretty upset. I tried explaining that we were going to order more and tip towards the end (which you could argue isn't believable but it's usually how I roll) to which he refused to serve me and ultimately kicked me out. I've been kicked out of bars before but this has to be up there for one of the most ridiculous reasons. I was polite when I ordered, and had just showed up there and had not had anything to drink prior to these two drinks that I purchased for myself and my friend, so I wasn't acting drunk or outlandish by any means. I'm also not obligated to tip, let alone for a small order of 2 canned drinks (and to my credit I'm usually a generous tipper, and have tipped at this establishment before when I get several drinks and or food). I did start to roast him a little bit after he gave me the boot I'm not afraid to admit that, I just was not going to let such poor treatment slide. But up until he did kick me out I don't think anything occurred that warranted me leaving the establishment. I guess I was there several months ago as well and had ordered "2 Negronis and didn't tip" which I don't even remember but I'm glad he does I guess. Ultimately I still enjoy going to this place whenever I pass through this town which isn't too often, but hopefully I can come back next time and he isn't so angry. I just HAD to get this out there. I've never experienced anything like it in my life. Also I’ll definitely be back. Respectfully, -Luciano

July 4 2024: They had a dozen varieties of oysters today, all were great. Had the Bermuda Fish Stew, very tasty. Spicy Seafood Pasta. It's just spicy enough. I have a low tolerance for spice but I was fine with this. Recommended. Sept 2023: Had oysters always great, had 7 varieties of RI and Cape Cod oysters. We also had the grilled octopus, which was good, and the warm butter lobster rolls. July 2023: We ate on their upper deck, it's outdoor dining with a roof so it should work in the rain. They had 10 types of oysters, we each had one of each. Every oyster was delicious. I had the lobster burger. It has a generous portion of lobster but it turns out as a combination. It doesn't work because the beef drowns out the taste of the lobster. I took the lobster off of the burger and ate it separately, that way I was able to enjoy the lobster. 2019: Excellent oyster selection, good oyster stew. Dinner is very expensive for a pub type place.

I would give them a 2.5 if I could. My wife and I stopped in Newport on our way up to Cape Cod. We came here because it was torrential down pouring and everything else had a long wait. We started with the Lobster “bisque” which was effectively corn and potato in a lobster broth. It had the consistency of water and minimal flavor. It wasn’t worth eating it was so bad, the waitress took it off our menu which was above and beyond and unnecessary. I also had the New England Cod Chowder, which was fine. Also on the thin side, but had a decent enough flavor. I then ordered some oysters, which were good and $3 an oyster isn’t an awful price. We ordered the Salmon BLT and the Tuna Tacos, both of which were just fine and nothing to write home about. I will say, the staff was VERY friendly and helpful, and the building appears to be historic and was very nice. All that being said, next time in Newport I have no urgency to go back.

We went to Midtown Oyster Bar for dinner and had and enjoyed the food. I had the Lobster Roll and my wife had the wedge salad. The lobster roll was the best one that I have had this entire trip and was very generous in the amount of claw meat. The lobster was basted in butter and tasted great. We also enjoyed some drinks. They have an eclectic assortment of beers and ciders so you are highly likely to find something that will suit your fancy. I tried a cranberry cider which was refreshing and tasted great. I then had a Tripel from Belgium. The service was pretty good, but our waitress got slammed with a huge, very demanding group. We had to ask someone else to find her for us twice during the last part of our visit. I would recommend a visit, because the food and drink were delicious. Be sure to check out the different floors, as each level is themed as a different part of a ship.

We went to supper last night and lunch today. Everything we ordered was super fresh and out of the ordinary. Fried calamari, the lightest crisp large serving, Bermuda fish chowder enough to share for two delish, asked for extra toast to sop up, favorite waitress Ava did it all, Tartare Trio to die for, fresh, unusual, and good helping , the shared plater for 2, the Newporter, was so well worth the price, below what ordering each item separately would be and the Seafood Pan Roast cooked to just done tender perfection also incredible to share. Yes, few comments, we cook at lot at our own farm and with friends who know the waters and what to catch and how to cook so we are very picky, and this place is great, thanks Ava and Paula two wonderful waitresses. . Also the mixed cocktails and generous and right on. Desert Key Lime fresh and clean enough for two and the chocolate mousse was oh my.

Wrapped up everything else we were doing in the area 30-some minutes early, and they were kind enough to get us seated right then instead of waiting for our reservation time to roll around. The crab & shrimp duo was amazingg (and devoured before I could think to take a pic) incredibly fresh and had good portioning Loved the lavender lemonade- one of my favorite drinks. Wasn’t super sweet and was generous on the lavender :) wish it was a bigger glass, I’d have downed it so fast And the KEY LIME PIE (also devoured) was a lil personal pie which was perfect, very refreshing and well dressed with whipped cream and a lime slice :) The server could have been a bit more knowledgeable on the oyster selection, it was tough to get a recommendation or some helpful tips on how to pick based on preference
