We attended a service here today to see the church & tour it (as far as I can tell, currently, historic tours are only open on Sundays after service). The immediate vibe was warm and welcoming, much like the city itself. They made this service very tourist friendly with well laid out pamphlets so you didn’t get lost during it. We followed along easily with our respective protestant and catholic backgrounds. It was beautiful, well-preserved, with ushers and individual box pews. There’s historical plaques on the walls and a self-guided tour pamphlet you can grab at the door. It was a very cool experience; definitely worth going. The historic graveyard around the church is also interesting.

We took the Colonial Newport Walking Tour as a shore excursion on our Silver Shadow Cruise. Ken, our guide, gave us a lot of information on Newport and Rhode Island’s early history. A major stop is Trinity Church. Here we learn about the church’s early roots, designed like the Old North Church in Boston. Inside we see how each family had their own block. We saw this in the old North Church. Each family decorated their section. The church was very plain in the past without Stain Glass windows. Today stained glass windows are used as fundraiser for the church. A lot of history in the church.

⛪✝️Lovely Church & Cemetery⛪✝️ I wasn't able to go inside of the church; however, while touring the Newport area on foot, I passed by Trinity Church and enjoyed strolling through the small cemetery and reading the history and headstones. There is much for photographers, architects, and history buffs to enjoy. The grounds are lush with greenery and shaded by either the trees or the church itself, depending upon the time of day. It's a lovely spot to take a moment to collect yourself, breathe, and reflect before continuing on your way.

Located in Queen Anne Park, it's a beautiful old church, episcopal, in Newport. Founded 1698. When it is open, there is usually a volunteer there to answer questions you may have. Although it is free, donations are encouraged. I was there in the fall for the pumpkin sale. 🎃. There are lots of other activities, like a strawberry festival in spring.

I walk past this church every morning and never went inside until a few days ago. It’s one of the most beautiful churches you will ever visit. George Washington worshiped here in 1781 and his pew is marked. We had an impromptu tour given by a lovely woman who shared so much of the church’s history. This is a MUST when visiting Newport.

What an incredible church! The history was so interesting to learn about and we loved walking around during our trip. The woman inside was so knowledgeable and kind to us throughout our visit. I would definitely recommend this to anyone and wish we had attended a service too!
