I really do not like leaving reviews but Iām hoping this does reach the right people. I havenāt been to Drybar in Chestnut hill for a few years, and the last time I did, I remember it very differently. It was clean, customer service was amazing, they offered wine or coffee and the receptionist would check on you to see if you needed anything. I have been to locations in Georgia and fortunately I got to have the real DryBar experience there. This time around was a big disappointment. My appointment was at 10:15 but I did not get started until almost 11am. I didn't want to make a big deal but it was a shock when no one acknowledged that my appointment was running late. Once I was seated I explained to the hair dresser what I was looking for a simple blow out with volume. I only wanted a blow dryer used and if possible to curl it with blow dryer skills and have it pinned to hold. I stopped coming out to get my hair done because the job has been getting done with my Dyson. I simply had no energy that day and needed to get pampered. Also, FYI my hair is very thick and curly! After 2 hours, my stylist finished the blowdry and I touched the back and realized it was still puffy! She informed me not to worry sheās going to go over it with a flat iron to curl??? Not what I was looking for at all. But at this point, 3 hours later I was over it and just wanted to leave. My hair stylist was very sweet but honestly not someone who knows how to deal with my hair. Unfortunately, I will not be returning to Drybar again. I hope staff can be properly trained on how to deal with all hair types, and be able to style hair without using more heat after a blow dryer is used.
This is not to criticize my stylist but to hopefully have staff trained on all types of hair. There were a few customers I saw leave with great styles which...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreDO NOT GO. CREDIT CARD CHARGED WITHOUT PERMISSION.
I had 2 out of 6 tape in extensions pulled out because the stylist tugged on them with the blow dryer. The receptionist (with Kylie Jenner 2014 blue hair) was beyond rude and told me I had to PAY $25 for getting my extensions dried!
I said thatās absurd and Iām not paying that while Iām staring down at my two lifeless little extensions in my hand. The receptionist with blue hair snidely said to me āitās already been chargedā with a putrid grin on her face.
I gave her a gift card. She told me it had been used which is impossible. She refused to provide me information about management contacts saying there was no manager, and she was the assistant manager (apparently assisting to no one). I reached to grab the gift card and she pulled it towards her so I was unable to retrieve it.
I began to exit she yelled at me āI need your card!ā And I was previously told my card was charged (not at will). When I tried to step outside she yelled āIām calling the police!ā and I heard stylists yelling at me as if I grabbed 30 straighteners and ran! I turned around and she was on the phone and rushed into the backroom.
I waved my debit card in the air and not one stylist knew how to ring me out (even though I had āalready been chargedā). After being held essentially as a hostage concerned I would have to speak to police, the receptionist fled out from the back yelling āARE YOU GOING TO COOPERATE?ā
She grabbed my card and I inquired why that was necessary. She said it was expired. The card was renewed a month, so no.
So I left missing 2 extensions, $70, and my patience. Corporate kindly refunded me however my unused gift card is still in...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis location is a JOKE. I had an 9:00 appointment and wasnāt seen until 9:50. If I wanted my hair done at 9:50, I wouldāve booked it for 9:50. Same exact thing happened last weekābooked for 3:00, wasnāt even sat in the chair to get my hair washed until 3:41. Thatās insane.
If I wanted to stare at myself in a mirror for half an hour while nothing happened, Iād stay home and do it for free š
Donāt overbook if you canāt keep up. Stop wasting peopleās time. Some of us have lives and schedules that donāt revolve around your inability to run a business.
The two front desk girls Iāve dealt with? Completely useless. Disorganized, careless, and clearly not trained to do anything beyond check people in. No apology, no update, no clue. Just blank stares. ESPECIALLY the one with blondish brown hair.
Iāve been to Drybars all over the country as a Barfly member, and this is hands down the WORST location Iāve been to. Zero professionalism, zero respect for your time. Avoid this place unless you genuinely enjoy sitting around for 30+ minutes watching people who came in after you get taken first.
And let me be clear: the stylists are great. Sweet, talented women. This review isnāt for them. Itās for whoeverās in charge of scheduling and running the frontāthe people who somehow keep failing at the simplest part of the job: respecting peopleās time. These are the people who should be replaced by AI.
For a location that charges more than every other Drybar, the standards here are laughably low. If youāre going to charge $64, at least try to run the place like itās worth even half that.
Absolutely embarrassing....
