Polish Me is easy to find off S. Campbell, plus it has a cute, lighted, retro style "OPEN" sign in the window.
Once inside there is a beautiful check-in desk area, chandeliers throughout the shop, elegant-retro movie star photos, custom made high backed posh pedicure chairs, massage pedicure chairs, lighted tables to service manicures with the latest technology and a stunningly beautiful mirror that graces an entire wall.
Glancing back at the entrance is a table with complimentary coffees and bottled water covertly tucked into the wall behind the check in desk.
There was a young blonde girl, the daughter of the owner, who was working on her pedicure skills. I agreed to have the sweet apprentice give me my pedi. The young, soon-to-be a woman, gave me the best gel pedi I've ever had. It lasted 9 weeks...not gonna lie it was 9!
It was encouraging to me to see mother/owner directing her daughter in the skills needed for perfection. Her mother watched carefully and directed strickly. It takes time, direction, practice and patience to become great at something. The apprentice has skills yet to be discovered, she is an excellent addition to Polish Me.
Carla, the owner, speaks with a beautiful Peruvian accent...but only speaks English in her shop. Speaking English while I'm getting service is refreshing and important to me.
My manicure was expertly done by Carla who is a master at the art of acrylics. No tips in this shop, everything is hand made to perfection.
I found Polish Me to be very clean, professional, upbeat, posh and affordable.
•She does NOT use harsh chemicals •The manicure table has a built in fan that sucks out any chemical odor from products •She does not cheap-down the service, techniques, products or experience •She is a lovely, Christian woman with good character and a beautiful family that has worked painstakingly hard for her shop to be the success it is. •Polish Me has never disappointed me... Once, a new technician did my gel pedicure and some of the paint came off the next day. I walked in to the shop and talked to Carla about it. She immediately sat me in a chair and repainted all 10 of my toes herself. That's the one and only problem I've ever had.
...My point is... IF I ever have a problem with the service I talk to the owner and I know she will make it right, because she really does want the client to be happy about his or her nails.
Exiting is fun because Carla loves to showcase her brilliant artsy work. She just might take a photo or two of your lovely feet and or hands before you leave.
I feel like a million bucks every time I go...
Read moreI am saddened to have to write this review because I loved going here but because of the treatment I received the last time I went I won't be coming back. About three weeks ago I came in for my appointment. I was a few minutes early, picked out my color, and waited for Carla (which is the owner of the nail salon) to be done with her current client. While she was checking out her current client she told me to go sit at her station. The station was still dirty. She then walked up to me and asked if another lady could start on my nails by taking off the color while she used the restroom. I said that was fine. Carla then came back and told the lady she can just do the rest because that nail techs next appointment had canceled . The lady said no, this is your client, but Carla kept insisting and told her that I won't mind. I assumed she was going to eat lunch because I thought she said she was hungry and I was starting to feel uncomfortable, so I said that is fine for her to do my nails. Keep in mind that they were extremely slow this day because a lot of people had canceled due to the snow we had gotten the night before. I could understand if she needed a break or had been really busy but this was not the case. The lady then tried to take me to her station but Carla told her to stay where we were which was Carlas dirty station. A little while later the lady picked up the dirty cuticle clippers from Carlas station and ended up using them on me. After I realized, I did tell her that I believe those were used and she apologized and said, "see this is why I don't like using other peoples stations." Carla then returns at one point and tells us to move to the nail techs station. She then cleaned her station and sat down with another client that she had called to come in early since she now had an open time slot. Why didn't Carla just do my nails and call the other lady and see if she could come in early for the other nail tech. Why make the client who was there go with someone else and then call in another client to fill my spot? I left my appointment feeling sad, stressed, and definitely not a very valued customer. I come every 3 weeks to get my nails done here for the last two years. I have given countless referrals to this nail salon. I spend a lot of money a month and to be treated this way was unacceptable! I guess I will just have to take my...
Read moreFirst I would like to say the salon is beautiful and very clean. I also have been extremely satisfied with the services that I have received.
My problem has been with the way I see the owner treat some of her employees. My last experience I was getting a Manicure done and the owner walked up and proceed to get on the girl doing my manicure about using to much product on a pedicure cart. The girl very quietly said its not mine. She called her a liar right in front of me and said I know better. The girl again said its not mine I didn't do it. So finally she went and asked another employee who admitted to being the one who had used to much product. The appropriate thing to have done would have been for an apology to have been given but it was not. I also was in the salon before this for a pedicure and the sweetest little young blonde girl was doing my pedicure and the owner continued to come over and tell her she was doing things wrong and correcting her I can only imagine how the girl felt as she is very young and clearly doesn't know how to defend herself in this situation. When trying to defend herself and explain what she was doing. She was told she was being disrespectful and talking back to her. I am not saying either girl was right with trying to explain themselves to the boss. However, they should have never been put in that position in front of a client.
I have also been in the salon bringing my mom in and while waiting I was paying extra attention to how the employees was treated. What I have noticed is that 2 of the 4 girls that I have met that work there are treated with complete disrespect. All I can do is make some suggestions as a business owner myself for over 20 years I know it is hard to find the perfect balance. You should always try and be friends with your employees as they will give you more respect and you will also give them the respect they deserve. Remember they are helping you make your living. I'm not sure how the problem can be fixed but my suggestion is that the owner needs to be grateful for the devoted employees that she has and learn to treat them all equal. Take a step back before you address them. If you give respect you will receive respect.
I hope some of my words of wisdom will help make this new...
