Montgomery County - Norristown Public Library — Attraction in Norristown

I love this library and have been going to it since I was a child. The staff are always friendly and helpful and they offer a great selection of books. I’m giving it three stars because I have felt uneasy the past few visits due to the amount of homeless people that are inside/outside of the library. Last time I was there, a group of homeless people were sitting together talking about sex and drugs at a loud volume. Today, there was a homeless man sleeping in one of the aisles. I feel sorry that there is not more I can do for these people but I would also like to visit my local library without fearing...

If you miss how the wifi looked like back in 2000s, definitely try this place. If you are lucky, you may get 2-3 mbps. I tried a few spots around the library and all of them have very weak signals. Had to leave after wasting an hour there.

Library will be closed for a significant amount of time for renovations beginning May 12, 2025. I came up here on public transit from Delaware County-a significant undertaking-because there is a book here that is not available at any other library and I don't want to wait for it to arrive on hold. The security guard-who was very nice-informed me of this after I had already entered the building. Guess it's four hours on buses back home.
