Ampacity Electric | NJ Electrician & EV Charger Installation — Attraction in North Arlington

I recently had the pleasure of working with Andrew from Ampacity Electric to install an EV charger at my home. From start to finish, the entire process was seamless and exceeded my expectations.

On December 16, 2024, I found Andrew online and noticed his perfect 5-star ratings, so I decided to reach out via a message. He responded right away, and we had a brief yet efficient conversation. He requested some pictures and information, which I provided through a phone message. To my surprise, he quickly prepared an estimate, and I made a deposit—all within a matter of hours.

The very next day, Andrew scheduled an appointment for December 21st. He arrived exactly on time and completed the work promptly and efficiently. Throughout the process, he answered all of my questions with confidence and expertise, leaving the worksite impeccably clean.

However, the first inspection by the town didn't go smoothly. The inspector failed the installation for three reasons: the wrong wire gauge used, no breaker lock, and the height of the charger being too low. When I informed Andrew about the issues, he swiftly wrote to the town's building department to challenge their decisions. Clearly, Andrew was more knowledgeable about EV charger installation than the town's inspectors. They dropped the first two issues but remained firm about the charger's height, even though it was well above the minimum height suggested in the charger manual.

Andrew gave me two options: fight the decision or comply with the inspector's request. I chose to comply, and Andrew scheduled another appointment at no additional charge. Once again, he arrived on time and made the necessary corrections. Now, the second inspection went smoothly, and the permit has been approved and closed.

I am so glad I found Andrew. I had contacted a couple of other electricians before him, and they were more expensive, suggesting unnecessary upgrades like a 200-amp upgrade or the installation of a power management device. I'll summarize by stating Andrew is a true professional and there is no one else I would rather have hired to do this job. I found Andrew through a Google search and he serviced my parents neighborhood. They were purchasing an electric car and needed to install an EVSE "car charger" in the garage. Andrew asked for a picture of the electrical panel so he could give us a quote without having to visit (great especially during these times of Covid). The quote was very reasonable and we scheduled an appointment. I had many questions as this was all very new to me and was ready to purchase many different accessories for my parents. I even thought I would need to upgrade my electrical panel given the "research" I did online. Andrew took the time to explain what each item was and ultimately saved me money as he stated it would not be necessary. Lesson learned! His price for each was very fair and reasonable considering the the amount of time and materials needed for both jobs. Andrew arrived on time for each job and it was clearly obvious he was a skilled electrician. His work was professional and he was very neat, carefully cleaning up after the job was finished. He tested the system to insure the generator hookup was working properly and supplied written instructions for me so that I would be able to easily do the hookup myself without any problems. I have absolutely no reservations recommending Ampacity Electric for all of your residential electrical needs. Andrew is a personable, knowledgeable individual who takes pride in his work and left me feeling confident that the job was done right.
