This gym is unprofessional, lacks cleanliness and the customer service is terrible. I feel bad for my personal trainer at the time, Kaevon because his personality and intentions were great. I reached out to the manager to cancel after two visits: The terms were not discussed with me upon signing the agreement, i was simply asked to sign at $360 for a three month commitment with what sounded like a promising regimen which I was happy to sign at the time of but after receiving the services realized it was not a good fit. I will not be stopping by the gym as I am moving and this email will serve as my written cancellation of this contract.
Furthermore, 15 business days from 11/4 would be 11/22 because normal business days are monday- friday. I am not happy with the service. Monday 11/4 was my free session and when i signed up. Monday November 11th, I had my first session and we worked out on upper body. Wednesday November 20th I had my second training which was legs. The personal trainer was sick the first week after my free training session with him and I was sick the following week. I resumed training this week on wednesday which is two sessions.
Yesterday I was scheduled to come in at 9 and specifically texted your trainer I will need to be out by 9:30 due to work obligations and upon arriving to the gym at 9:02am I was asked to warm up for five to ten minutes. At 9:20am the trainer was still not available and I needed to leave. My training is supposed to be 30 mins- so when another trainer approached me, I informed him to please let Kaevon know that I will not be able to stay any longer and that I did not have my cell phone with me to inform him myself.
I did not input my birth date as I never filled out any forms so that is an error on Crunch's end. Your agency had me sign a keypad and then sent the paperwork through email later like I previously stated.
Also your facility states they put safety first but not having ANY personal assessments or atleast even a weight check or thorough strength test or endurance test and to start me out on weights immediately is dangerous and risky to my life. I couldn't walk for two days and was extremely sore due to the dispensable training. Also there was no set or written schedule of dates and times the trainer would be available and when my trainer was sick, he didn't assign another trainer to me to continue my training.
This facility does not meet my expectations as it shows signs of unorganization and uncleanliness which makes me uncomfortable to even step a foot back in there. I refuse to pay 360 a month for this type of service. Why would I cancel within 3 days if I never received any services during that time. Although this gym may be great for others, it was not a great fit or experience for me.
The manager went back and forth with me and then sent this harassing reply:
Please reach out to a lawyer, I would actually look forward to disputing your baseless claims. I think it's disgusting that you would disparage one of my trainers(who has had nothing but outstanding reviews the entire time he's been here), just because you don't want to work out. The calls, emails, and texts will not stop, and your credit WILL be negatively affected. You signed a contract and handled this situation like a child by going ghost and never having an adult conversation with the General Manager. Again, I would love to work this out, but if you are going to lie, I see where this is headed. The balance will be $1080 whenever you come to your senses.
Definitely reported them to BBB because the harassing emails and phone calls have not stopped and they are threatening to report to credit.

Read moreUpdate on My Experience with Crunch North Brunswick:
Recently, the owner responded to my concerns in a comment below with an apology and a commitment to address the issues I've raised. However, this gesture, while appreciated, falls short of rectifying the actual problems of misleading contractual practices and poor management accountability that I, and apparently many others, have faced. Attached is a screenshot of the owner's response, which starkly contrasts with the tangible actions (or lack thereof) taken by the gym to resolve these disputes fairly and ethically.
This interaction only further illustrates the disconnect between the gym's expressed intentions and their actions. It is disheartening to see that despite acknowledging the problems, the necessary steps to make amends and correct their unethical practices have not been implemented.
To those considering joining Crunch North Brunswick, I urge you to reconsider. My experience, from the unprofessional conduct of the management to the gym's refusal to honor clear contractual terms, demonstrates a lack of integrity and respect for members. This situation could have been a learning opportunity for Crunch to improve its services and customer relations. Instead, it has become a clear warning sign to potential members about what they might encounter.
I posted this review in the hope of alerting others to the potential pitfalls of dealing with Crunch North Brunswick. It's crucial for consumers to be aware and vigilant, to ask questions, and to demand accountability from businesses.
Your health club membership should support your wellness journey, not detract from it with unnecessary stress and frustration.
Choose a gym that respects its members, honors its agreements, and upholds ethical business practices.
Initial Review: Crunch North Brunswick is a cesspool of unethical business practices and blatant contractual violations. The manager repudiates all accountability.
Despite politely providing documentation that I followed proper cancellation protocols per their agreement, which staff acknowledged, Crunch then tried changing the cancellation date retroactively - a breach of our contract.
When I gathered proof this is a systemic issue they pull on numerous other members (see other reviews), the manager dismissively claimed I simply "didn't read the contract." This is a lie, I have evidence of compliance.
He then condescendingly stated his "business ethics are unimpeachable" while reneging on statements to resolve this properly. His conduct has been the opposite of ethical at every turn, as showcased in the attached screenshot of his unprofessional email response.
I exhausted all attempts to reasonably uphold the agreed terms, but the manager has burned that bridge with deflections and refusals to accept culpability for his staff's transgressions.
I am now pursuing official complaints against Crunch with the BBB and the state consumer protection office.
This could all have been avoided if they simply honored their own policies as any reputable business should. Consider this a warning against their corporate...
Read moreSCAM ALERT Let me be clear - I don't necessarily want to dissuade people from this location or business as much as make you informed before you sign up with them. The dishonesty is what has earned them the low rating.
This location advertises a "Peak" membership that grants you access to multiple locations. What they don't tell you anywhere on their site (or at least anywhere that easily accessible) is that this only gives you access to "Essentials" locations. These "Essentials" gyms are franchised Crunch gyms and have a completely different membership system.
Don't believe me? Call and ask them about it directly!
I got this level of membership specifically because I knew I'd be moving in the near future. I only found out about this after going to my new place and literally walking in the door at one of the nearest Crunch gyms (none of which are "Essentials" locations) to be told I had to pay to get in per-visit. There also isn't any form of membership conversion - it's completely separate.
The rub is that, had I been told about these restrictions ahead of time, I could have made an informed decision and probably would have still signed up for membership (albeit at a different membership level). Now though, I have a useless membership that's a pain to cancel (more on that below).
On the subject of not being honest about fees - there's a $60+ "equipment maintenance fee" that they don't mention. It's applied 3 months into your membership, REGARDLESS of if you actually stay onboard for 3 months. Again - not outrageous, it's just one more thing they aren't upfront about until you're in the middle of signing the papers.
I was originally not going to give this place such a low rating - when I called-in to confirm this concept of "Essentials" gyms with them, the person on the phone was very polite and empathetic to my situation. She even tried to find a gym nearby me that worked. When we couldn't find one, she was very polite and candid about how I might want to consider changing memberships and how that would involve canceling the one with them. I said that I wanted time to think about it and she noted my situation in my membership profile. Customer service at it's finest!
However, after making my decision a few days later, I called back and was told that I either needed to show up while the manager is there (which I was told was 9a to 3p - in the middle of the day while I'm working) or I can go down to the post office and send certified mail cancelling my membership. Either way, it's an absurd amount of effort for someone to go through when the business has clearly failed them (otherwise, why would you cancel your membership). The poor management seems to be a consistent theme in negative reviews of...
