We had a terrible experience at this hotel. I want to copy and paste the email that I sent to the GM while we were still there as guests, and I have received no response from them other than they added a few Marriott Bonvoy points with no communication/apology for the poor experience.||Here’s the email:||Good morning,||I wanted to write you today to inform you of our experiences at the Courtyard Marriott.||We checked in yesterday, July 13, at 6:30pm. I had reserved a larger room 2 queen suite with a sofa bed because my wife and I are traveling with our two children, and they sleep better if they are in separate beds. I thought that the sleeper sofa and the two queens would be a perfect room for us.||When I arrived, we were informed by the front desk staff that there were no more of this type of room available. They were “sold out.” I do not understand how that can be possible. A reservation is supposed to hold the room for me. It should be impossible for the type of room I reserved to be “sold out.” She offered to lower my price and move me to a smaller room, and I declined. I requested an upgraded room, which she did provide. The upgraded room has a king bed and two sleeper sofas. It is not ideal, but it will work for us. Still, I shouldn’t have to ask for an upgraded room. If something has gone wrong on your end and my room type is unavailable, I should be automatically upgraded, not downgraded.||So we get to our room. Room 601. It is a 2 room suite that has two sleeper sofas (twin size), so it is clear that it is a room that is meant for a family. There was only one set of sheets in the room for the two sleeper sofas. The bathroom contained two towels and two washcloths. Why would a room that is clearly meant for a family of four not contain all the items necessary for a family of four?||In the bathroom, the light above the shower does not work. On the back wall behind the toilet, there is a strange green stain on the wall in several places. I have attached photos of the stains.||I went downstairs this morning to print something we needed, only to find out that there is no computer attached to the printer, and you have to email the front desk (to a gmail account) to have something printed. ||Coupled together, all these issues do not present the brand standard that I’m normally accustomed to when staying at a Marriott property. I needed to make you aware of these concerns, so you can hopefully make them right, both for me and my family and for your future hotel guests. ||We are on a long family road trip, staying at many different hotels. Our first hotel was a Residence Inn property. We had reserved a two bedroom unit at the hotel and we couldn’t be accommodated because a family that had a house fire was using their 2 bedroom unit and their house was taking longer than expected to be finished. The manager emailed me in advance of our stay, told me of the issue, and offered me a solution at a discounted price and extra Marriott Bonvoy points for our inconvenience. That was the Marriott experience I would expect.||Email 2 (the next day):||Update:||Ice makers on floors 4, 5, and 6 are broken. A room meant for 2 adults and 2 kids only has one K-cup for coffee.||I checked in on the app and requested no cleaning to be done in our room. Our room was cleaned anyway.||Looking forward to your response.||That is the end of the emails. It’s been 16 days since we left that hotel and I have had no response from the management. ||Pick a different hotel - one that cares about their guests and the...
Read moreFirst, the good parts:
This is a new hotel that looks modern and clean. I could not detect any musty odors in the public areas and hallways.
Room amenities are great. The microwave oven and fridge were very useful since I had planned on getting groceries and frozen food from the nearby Target store. The fridge appeared on the small side at first but turned out to be just big enough. There were USB ports at a number of spots around the room and those were useful for recharging my many electronic devices. Plus, there was a mini rolling laptop table right by the couch! Okay, it may not actually be a laptop table but that's what I used it for.
The location is good. There is a Target store visible from the room and within walking distance from the hotel. There are also some decent restaurants nearby. I didn't go to the Greene Turtle this time but I liked having a Panera Bread not far away.
Now, the bad:
Parking was clearly insufficient, or it would have been had the hotel been full. At only a small fraction of hotel occupancy this weekend, the parking lot was already more than half full. I guess in a pinch, they can borrow part of the parking lot from the Target store.
The hallways were rather warm. Was there no air conditioning outside of the rooms?
The room air conditioner is noisy.
The room shower stall has only half a glass panel, which meant the bathroom floor got wet when I took a shower. This seems like poor design.
The in-room coffee kits had apparently not been refreshed in quite a while, so I found that one of the creamer cups had already gone bad and leaked out onto the sugar packets. Yuck.
Housekeeping forgot to service my room. I wasn't particular about not having the bed made but I would've expected trash removal at a minimum.
This hotel offers a "Grab-n-Go breakfast" as one of the complimentary amenities but I checked on both Saturday and Sunday morning and all they had was coffee. No food. In my opinion, coffee alone is not a "breakfast" and should not be advertised as such.
So the conclusion:
It was a subpar stay. I would probably...
