This is a blast from the past review. In 1980, when I was 18, I took a week long summer recording class at Criteria Studios. It was advertised in Rolling Stone magazine if my memory is correct. At the time, before heading to college, I wanted to see if recording engineer might be a possible career path. I still remember the engineers name, who led the class, Steve Klein. There were 6 of us in the class. Fresh fruit and danish were provided every morning. It was a great week, and we learned various aspects of recording, mic placement, etc. and got to play with the soundboard. Steve's motto was "Louder is better." Loved seeing the gold records of the legendary bands and music recorded there. We were in the studio that was to the right of the covered parking bays. They were in the process of switching the boards out from analog to digital at the time. Great time and great memory! I did not ultimately become an engineer, but enjoyed the opportunity to give it a test drive. I hadn't thought about it in years and was curious and Googled it. I'm glad to see the legendary Criteria Studios is still going strong. All the best to you for many more years of making great music! Ann...

The studio (although being my first studio I've ever visited) has to be one of the best around. With over 5 rooms with different sound effect qualities and different SSL mixer vintages to choose from. This is why it's the preferred east coast studio for all the greats from 1958 to present to record at.
And although Barry Gibb wasn't behind one of the doors when I was there (lol). Our Guide Trevor (who I was lucky to get to meet and hear his stories ) was amazing at really showing me what it takes to make quality music in a quality studio vs the computerized modern way (although they can accommodate...
Read moreThis place as extremely professional and well taken care of. They cater to your services in a timely manner. Pretty much an overall wonderful facility and experience. I was blown away by all the record plaqurs and how well taken care of they are. The staff exhibited excellent customer services couldn't ask for more genuinely kind people. In addition to all of that I had the most AMAZING experience recording there with the engineer named Aaron Hertz. It's never just a session when you record with him.. he teaches you new things and pushes you to put forth your best effort. The vibe is so cool and genuine that you feel like you're recording with your best friend..not just any ole engineer.... 5 STARS and TWO...
