The RUDEST people ever. I had called the day before and informed an individual, by the name of Mike (who was not rude) that I had 142 CDs that I was looking to sell. I told him it was various genres, from country to rock and others. I also told him I had some collectible Beatles CDs and also several (40 or more) cassettes of various genres. He said they would definitely be interested in them and to bring them in. The following day, my wife and I decided to make the 30-40 minute trip to Northampton. On our way there, I decided to make a call to them to let them know I was coming. At that point, the phone was answered by this very rude individual, who when I asked who I should ask for, said I am the only one here, so I guess it will be me. When I arrived, I was surprised that the store was in a basement and had to go down to ask this individual for help getting the several boxes down some steep stairs, being that both my wife and I are disabled. He reluctantly, agreed to walk the 10 steps to the front of the store to help, one of the boxes was very heavy (142 CDs) and would have been treacherous for either my wife or myself to try to maneuver down the stairs with them. Once he got them to the counter, within less than a minute, he said we don’t sell these types of genres. Much to my dismay, I turned around to only find out they do sell the types of genres I had. He then turned around and took a parting shot at me and said I will give you a $10 store credit or I will buy your 8 Beatles CDs from you for $5. I wasn’t looking to retail these CDs, which would have been somewhere in the $80-90 range (perfect condition), but would have probably sold them all to him for $30. As it was, I probably would have sold EVERYTHING (all 142CDs, all 40 cassettes, all 8 of the Beatles CDs, plus some 100++ 45 rpm records for $100. When I asked him to help bring the items back up, just to the top of the stairs, he was more then rude again, and said “You know I am the only one here”. Well going to the top of the stairs, really wasn’t even leaving the store. Well I guess my little rant is done, but beware there is one very rude and not so compassionate individual at this store. Not sure if he is an owner or not, but he needs to take some lessons on customer service and get a grip on his non-existent people skills. Well that’s the end of my rant….and BTW, I went a little ways away to another store and was handled exceptionally well and got much more then I expected...
Read moreA rarity, what a wonderful throwback. This place reminds me of the record store in my hometown that closed over a decade ago... its got a homey and familiar atmosphere. Decent selection, reasonable rates, top notch quality (no scratches or skipping tracks). The shop even has a place to test out the item before purchase. There's lots of great hits on the discount shelf and during the NoHo sidewalk sales you can get some pretty fab deals. Staff was friendly, I'm a happy customer. As I write this review, my purchase plays in the background... thanks! Important to note that the shop is not handicap accessible, its a basement level business with only narrow stairwell access from...
Read more(This review is only pertinent to the record section) Some records should simply be thrown away. As harsh as that may sound, or as cheap as you can sell them, there’s nothing more frustrating than getting home to a scratchy and awful record of the music you love. At least clean them! The selection is not bad and the pricing is fitting to their quality, but I’d much rather not see the record at all than buy them with the hope that they will be a little kinder to the ears than they end up being. If you visit this store, and you should, make sure you do a visual inspection of the records before buying. There’s other options in the area if they don’t make the cut....
