Northfield Ace — Attraction in Northfield

I LOVE this store! I recently went to a BIG store (rhymes with crows) to look at some tile. While I was there, I asked the paint person how to paint over Formica (I have a bathroom cabinet that needs a new look). She actually said to me, "What's Formica?" Her store sells it just TWO isles away!!! When I "explained" it to her, she had this puzzled look on her face and was trying to come up with an answer. I said, "never mind, you're just guessing... I don't want 'guessing' for this project" and I left. I went to ACE and talked to Rose. I LOVE Rose (and Carmen-but he wasn't there that day and anyway, Rose is my 'go-to' paint person). She looked it up and told me EXACTLY what to do... then she walked with me to help pick out the stuff I needed... ALL in one place. Thank you, Rose! This review may come as a surprise to many of this stores local shoppers but it only takes one time. One time to be jerked around so bad when trying to buy and unfortunately return a large purchase that it's enough to changed all of your good experiences to never spending a dollar there again. Purchased damaged goods, didn't even have all of the goods in my possession, and when I brought the damage up and it couldn't be resolved the AGM went as far as saying how do I know "you" didn't cause the damage.....even after she admitted to me that she did not check the product for quality after it was built. So all the time and energy spent was at my cost...thank you to the "The Helpful Hardware Folks" , I could have went to Home Depot for that kind of service. Not...

Fabulous. It reminds me of my childhood local hardware store. They have great people working there that well trained and take pride in providing good customer service. That is a nice treat. The only drawback is that the place isn't bigger! Sure other places have a bigger selection, but this place still has the essentials and makes up for it big time in charm and service. I absolutely adore this store. I wish every store around was like this. So much is lost in the shopping experience when shopping at a large retailer to save a couple bucks. I'm glad I'm near this store to give it my business. Buy anything and everything you can from them, that's what I say. Free...
