We had such a great experience with Sergio. He was patient with our big group of kids ranging from 17 to 7 and took more time with the more cautious of them. He even took our youngest (5 at the time) who was watching from the beach, out on his own board to give her the experience. We’ve returned to him time and again when we have family visiting who want to surf for the first time. He’s great with first timers and young kids. My girls are already asking for another lesson this summer, a surf with Sergio is becoming tradition for the summer. Thanks Sergio!

I don’t want to share too much on how amazing this experience was so he’ll always be available when I’m there! This was the absolute best experience! For a first time surfer and with my anxiousness being in the ocean, he was the perfect fit for this experience. I highly recommend anyone who gets anxious or has fears to go with Sergio! And if you want photos, he can arrange that for you as for for a small fee. This was super affordable and worth it! I actually booked him a month later to do it again!!!

We have been taking surfing classes with Sergio since 2021, and we could not be happier with the experience. As beginners, we were eager to hit the waves but lacked the technique and knowledge of how to get on a board or catch a wave. Sergio's incredible patience and kind demeanor quickly helped us learn and improve.

Sergio is an excellent teacher who breaks down each step of the process, making it easy to understand and follow. His passion for surfing is infectious, and his Brazilian charm adds an extra layer of warmth and enthusiasm to each lesson. Whenever we are on Oahu, we always make it a point to schedule a class with Sergio.

His teaching style is supportive and encouraging, ensuring that everyone feels confident and capable in the water. We found Sergio's surf school on Trip Advisor and so glad we booked a semi-private with him, $95pp for 2hrs . We surfed on our last day in Hawaii and couldn't have imagined a better last day. We surfed some gnarly waves, saw sea turtles and a humpback whale! Sergio pointed to the open ocean and told us to look around because humpback whales come up for air and a HUGE HUMPBACK leaped OUT of the water. It was amazing. BEST PRIVATE EVER! He was very kind, personable and affordable. He had long sleeve rash-guards for us which are a MUST. Also, Pictures and video are available for only $30pp. Make sure to ask for them when you book, because they don't offer it or try to "sell" you once your lesson starts.

Sergio took my niece and her friend for their first surf lesson at Puena point. He spent some time before paddling out explaining and showing them what to do when they got on a wave. Once he was satisfied they got it, he paddled with them out to the waves, taking them out where it was easiest to get out. He pushed the girls into multiple waves, which they rode beautifully. He instructed them throughout the lesson. He is friendly, kind, safe and a great instructor. I would highly recommend Island Style Surf School if you are wanting to be sure to catch...
