U.S. Army Wahiawa Recruiting Station — Attraction in Oʻahu

Our son enlisted into the U.S. Army in early 2016 at the U.S. Army Recruiting Center in Mililani, Hawaii. His contact there was Sergeant First Class, Kurt B. Newell from start to finish. Being our first time experiencing the process of enlistment, Sgt. Newell and his staff guided us in every step. With a couple obstacles that prevented our son from enlisting when he wanted to, we were assured that being patient and having confidence in the process, everything will fall into place. Soon after his physical and swearing in, our son was now in the hands of the U.S. Army and was headed to South Carolina for Basic Training. He graduated with honors and medals and was so very proud of him. He then started his AIT in Virginia where he graduated as well. He is currently stationed in South Korea and has settled in without problem. Without the patience, guidance and pure confidence that Sgt. Newell and his staff had in our son we would not have had the assurance that the decision of joining the U.S. Army was the best decision our son made. Though the enlistment process is long over and many have had the same experience of taking the same path we are reminded now and then that we are always welcome to contact Sgt. Newell and his staff should we have any questions or concerns. Now, we are repeating the same process with our daughter who will be enlisting soon. I worked with SFC Sentieri and SFC Newell for over a year as I had to overcome several obstacles throughout my process. They worked with me the entire time, keeping contact and constantly pushing to get the appointments and paperwork I needed to move forward. They took the time to explain how things worked and what to expect. If they weren't sure or couldn't answer my questions, they found the answers or someone who could.
