Inkwell Beach — Attraction in Oak Bluffs

Inkwell is a lovely and serene beach in Oak Bluffs, MA. When we went in mid-August , the water was clear, warm and breathtakingly calm. Went for a 7:30am dip with the "Polar Bears". A perfect start to your day, for your mind, body, and soul. And all are welcome, even nonswimmers like myself. If that's not your thing there's also morning beach side yoga.

An excellent beach for families with small children. Close to town and public bathrooms. (It would be ideal to have port-a-potties nearer!)

Set between two large boulder jetties and for those that do not go into the water nor like being on the sand you can sit in the many benches on the sidewalk or stretch yourself on the wall surrounding the beach . From the Inkwell you can watch the Oak Bluff’s ferry dock and leave again for Woods Hole...

This beach is a quick walk (less than 5 minutes) from the Oak Bluffs ferry terminal. It is clear that sand was added to the beach, which is nice and was appreciated because the native sand is more pebbly and had lots of shell chips. The water was really clear and beautiful and some kids were looking around in the rocks of an adjacent jetty and others were showing off a crab they found.
