Oak Island Nature Center — Attraction in Oak Island

This was cute little area to walk in. Obviously the nature center wasn't open but the trail was very nice. If you want to have a break of the sun go here. Its not big but you can at least spend 30min there. Maybe bring a picnic and watch the speed boats on the Intracoastal waterway. The fishing pier is not open right now because it got damaged during the hurricane. There were also some fallen trees on the trail but nothing dangerous in my opinion. The bathrooms were not open are not open...

Quiet, peaceful, beautiful place in nature.

Herons can be seen feeding in the tidal pools.

Boats of all types go by on the intercostal waterway.

Two different piers, one floating, one is "T" shaped.

Has roof over picnic area with tables.

Nice Restrooms, handicapped accessible.

Butterfly garden in the front of park trails.

Nature center building has some exotic animals, that during business hours...

Cool little place! When I was little I loved to be up with in the trees and learn about wildlife. I also knew the owner so I got to play with the animals. Now I'm older so I just ride my bike through the trails and go fishing off the pier. I don't know it will be as cool now because apparently they aren't gonna have live animals any more but focus it more on the animals you find...
