My first and last time going to Strands. I went for a Yeti cooler because I heard they have an excellent Yeti inventory. I won't take that away from them, they do have an excellent selection. However the staff I dealt with were very snobby and self entitled. 3 young people behind the counter. The young gentleman was on the phone, one young lady was behind the cashier machine and another young lady in the doorway behind the cashier counter. Neither asked me if I needed help as I stood at the counter and they waited for me to initiate the conversation to purchase the Yeti. After I told her what I needed she motioned and asked the young gentleman can he handle that, mind you he was still on the phone. She rung me up with very little appreciation and minimal conversation. If it were me, I'd be all kinds of cordial after a customer purchased an item no matter how minute. The young man just drops the Yeti off at my feet went back behind the counter still on the phone. They had a bunch of neat items in there that interested me, but I'm not to keen of how they treat customers. I will not go back to Strands Outfitters nor will I recommend them to anyone who I might think would need to go there. It's a wonder why online shopping is a striving business. You don't have to deal with snobbish and self entitled merchants such as...
Read moreShame after reading all these positive reviews I took my daughter there today expecting a truly wonderful local experience but what I experienced was so shockingly obvious I decided to put down my items and leave. We just bought a place here part time and I needed to get some sandals and a beach cover. I didn't want anything cheap and something we could leave here so we went right up the street here. As I walked in one of the young people working took a look at my daughter and I and turned their head and walked away. As I was looking around near the front every other customer was greeted but I wasn't. As I went towards the back I had asked if they had any shoes and was ignored. I knew the young person worked there because they had just came from behind the register. Another woman told me they opened another shop down the street. I had picked up some clothing and as I was walking around I was followed by an employee. I went up to the employee and asked why I wasn't greeted and now why I was being followed. They had no answer and apologized. Well I was deeply disturbed because it was the most obvious form of racism I have ever seen. Luckily my daughter was unaware. It was not appreciated that myself and my mixed daughter were there. I will never patron this establishment ever again. I cannot believe how I...
Read moreBeware. Owner has absolutely no respect for customers: Bought a defective Bogg bag charm along with $100 worth of other items. Got back to my beach house & noticed the charm was broken as I took it out of the bag. Take it back to the store not even 30 minutes after purchasing (really wasn’t a big deal to me), and the girl tells me they can do in store credit or exchanges. That isn’t going to work for me as I live out of state & I wasn’t interested in a replacement in case it’s a defective charm. I can’t keep returning it being from out of state. What I’m assuming was the owner basically had an adult temper tantrum after I denied his offer to exchange it with a replacement. He gets very aggressive and says, “WHY? You wanted it when you bought it.” I had to tell him I didn’t want it anymore because I was afraid it was defective. He was clearly angry. Pretty sure $15 isn’t going to break the stores bank. Contact the Bogg distributor and I’m sure they’d be happy to work with you. After my experience and being disrespected, I won’t be back. I was going to bring my husband later on to check out the Yeti items...
