Bay Play — Attraction in Oakland

It is with deep sadness that I write this review. From the bottom of my heart, I don’t expect every stranger to have patience with my 4-year-old autistic son. But from the owner of a business that provides services for children, yes — I absolutely expect it. That is the bare minimum.

My son really wanted to grab a toy that was not available for sale. The owner’s reaction was to YELL at him — a 4-year-old child. Naturally, this triggered an immediate protective reaction from his father. And let’s be honest: yelling at a child is easy, isn’t it?

In less than one hour we spent almost $100 at this place. And in return, we were met with verbal aggression from someone who proudly introduced himself as the owner.

Here is my direct message to the owner: If you choose to run a business for children, patience is not optional — it is a requirement. Your business is not meant for adults, as you yourself said. Families come to your space for one reason only: to bring joy to their children. The least you can do is know how to deal with them.

Your space does not provide education, it provides entertainment. And entertainment should never be imposed through yelling. If, in the future, a situation bothers you or goes against your rules, remember: if nothing is being broken, no damage is being done, and no one is in danger — take a breath. Think before you act and remind yourself: it’s just a child.

I’m not one to write reviews but since both of my kids are napping after running around Bay Place for 3 hours, I feel obligated.This is a perfect place for the family. Both of my kids (5 and 2) thoroughly enjoyed every part the place has to offer. Bay Play provides a safe place to test limits and be adventurous. Both my kiddos were very proud when they found their way to the top of the climbing structure. They have already asked when they can come back. The arcade has a variety of games and the prizes are very nostalgic! For $20, we were able to play about 15-20 games. I found this to be a pretty great value for entertainment, because I had fun too! The staff members are very kind and kept the place clean. I saw quite a few staff members disinfecting, sweeping etc. This was reassuring to see. Plus, at the end of our time there, my white socks were still pretty clean! Looking forward to...

This indoor playground is fantastic! It’s the perfect spot for my child to burn off energy and have an amazing time. The climbing wall is a highlight—safe, well-maintained, and so much fun. My child couldn’t get enough of it!

The arcade is another great feature, with a nice variety of classic and modern games. The entire space is clean, organized, and offers something for everyone. The staff is incredibly friendly and attentive, which made me feel confident about my child’s safety.
