Pottery and Beyond — Local services in Oakland

I go here very often because in the end they have the most selection. I've bought more than a dozen pots here from large ones for trees to medium ones for orchids and they are made well and pricing is fair. When I made a large purchase, they were generous in giving me a discount. Yes, you need to adjust your customer service expectations but they helped me every time and you just have to go with their vibes. Sometime, they approach you when you're not ready and sometime you have to approach them to ask for help once you've decided. It's not a big deal for what they offer in terms of colors and selection of styles. If you are looking for the very unique handmade pieces by pottery artists, they're not here but if you need your standard large to medium planters in large variety of colors, you will find something without wasting time to check out all the nurseries. The guy who works here is extremely rude. The hours they post at the gate are incorrect-although it said 5:30 in big bold letters outside I arrived at 5:15 and the guy tried to tell me to go home. Don't shop here. They don't even have matching trays and pots and he will do his best to rip you off. He even berated me for having come earlier in the day to select what I wanted in advance. UPDATE: I had such a bad experience here that I researched alternative places. Go to Plant and Pottery Outlet in Sunol (near Fremont)! They have a much better selection, better prices and all of the employees are NICE and helpful! I bought my pots there and will be going back. Pottery and Beyond...

If you’re a plant lover like me, you’d enter thinking you’ll fill your entire car with pots and plants, but the staff are only going to slap their rude behavior in your face even before you step in. I buy plants no matter how many I own, but the staff won’t let you shop in peace. The lady at the front simply said, even before we entered, “You’re only here to look around, right? You have 15 minutes left,” and 5 minutes later, she signaled us to leave. I didn’t look like I was homeless, nor was I giving off a rude attitude.
