Sugar Planet — Attraction in Ocean City

EDIT: Reponse to owner. Hello sir/ma'am, thank you for responding to my review, just to let you know I am 17 years old and was vacationing here in Pennsylvania with family. I am not a former employee or competition. You can look me up on Google/YouTube and find all this to be true, I am not here to slander. I enjoyed the candy at your store but I cannot sit by if your store is compromised.

Here is the simple truth, I was not spending anything with my card while I was vacationing. In fact the only time I had spent money was at your establishment. There is no doubt in my mind. We had never visited the Ocho Rios that is close by your store, and we never ate at Papa's Johns or Panera Bread and never used Uber. And my family ABSOLUTELY never used my card to pay for anything for the places we did visit.

I don't know how card skimming technology really works, all I know is that as a consumer I went to your business and soon after I found my card information was used to buy things without my consent. The night I was there which was July 30th around 10 PM, I had used the tap to pay feature, as much as it is safer from other card reading tech, from what I have seen and read there are ways to exploit it.

But look sir/ma'am, I promise you I am responsible with my money, and I DID NOT spend any money while in OC until I had visited your store. I was not aware my card information was stolen until 2 days after I left OC.

As you suggested in your response, my family has already reported this to the authorities before I left this review.

I will remove my review once I get all my money back and the investigation is finished or dismissed. I will not be saying anything further.

I will compromise for right now by removing the latter half of my review as I am reflecting now and it was very emotionally charged, as understandably this was the first time this has happened to me. My granddaughter received a gift card to Sugar Planet. She picked out a mini Labubu figure (very popular with her age group) for $20. These figures can be hard to find, she was very excited. I purchased a package of Black Jack gum. I presented the gift card and the manager told me that he would try to get the card to work but they were having issues with the gift card company. He said if it didn't work, he would return the card and I would have to try again at a later date. He tried the card and it did not work. Luckily I had the purchase receipt for the card so he took the amount off the purchase manually. They told us once the figure was opened, it was not returnable. When we arrived home, my granddaughter discovered the Labubu figure was a fake! She was very upset. The gum I bought was so stale, I had to throw it away. I suspect the store had other complaints about the figures as there was a small print out on the other side of the store (we discovered this later) stating that they cannot attest to the authenticity of the figures they sell. Someone at Sugar Planet orders these figures so they are aware of the sites they are ordering from!

Shame on them for taking a child's money and giving them a fake product. We will never do business...

I visited Sugar Planet this morning. This establishment is pristine! Besides the spacious and immaculate environment, Ceci , the co-owner and her associate, Toni were extremely knowledgeable of the recent candy trends, which is absolutely visible in the vast array of reasonably priced unique products they offer! The candy selection and displays make you want to sample everything! Sugar Planet offers just the right amount of “stuffies”, trinkets, fun-wear, jewelry, toys and of course candies for everyone to enjoy! Unfortunately, I did not get the name of the salesgirl behind the counter, but it was truly evident by her eagerness to assist the customers that Ceci selected the perfect candidate for the job!
