This restaurant serves the worst Vietnamese food. Excuse me? Edamame and dumplings in a Viet restaurant? But why am I giving 5 stars? Because it's a good Asian restaurant!
My party and I walked into the restaurant and request a table for six in Vietnamese and the host gives us a weird look like we were speaking a foreign language. Oh... we were speaking a foreign language... The host was definitely not Vietnamese. Our waitress was definitely not Vietnamese. There wasn't a hint of Vietnamese on the menu. The menu was in full English. I found that strange.
Unfortunately, this place had enough room to fit maybe eight parties. It was a pretty small place. There were only one or two tables that could fit parties larger than 4. There was also a bar to sit at. Being small was a good thing I guess because they kept the place well cleaned. I didn't notice anything dirty during my time eating there.
Food was quite great in terms of Asian but not Vietnamese. My beef was well cooked and tasted great. Sesame seeds sprinkled on my beef added this crunchy texture. I easily sliced my beef into smaller pieces with my knife. It was also easy to stab my fork into the beef. Along with the main dish, the salad on the side was nothing like a Vietnamese salad but it tasted great as well. I was not served the typical appetizer soup. Thai tea tasted like diluted Thai tea which was a good thing and a bad thing. The tea wasn't too sweet and I felt like it was lacking milk. I liked the tea though but not my favorite. Portions were just above a satisfied filling. Prices should had been one to two dollars lower for entrees in my opinion.
I had not try the pho here but I heard that it was a bit saltier than...
Read moreWe ate here before pre pandemic with my family and it was great so when me and my wife went back to Ocean City last weekend, we decided to come back to this place. My Wife ordered grilled shrimp and I ordered #1 the combination. When I got my Pho, I noticed the broth was dark and when I was about to spread the noodles in the bowl, the portion of the noodles was as small as the spoon so I asked the guy right way if this is the normal serving for a regular and he said yes. I was surprised so I asked how much is for an extra noodles, he said $5. Are you kidding me? The bag of that noodle only cost $1.63 and for that portion, you can make at least 6 servings. What a rip off! The portion of the meat is so small that I didn't even noticed the tendon in it. I was about to put on the Sriracha and I noticed it's the imitation brand! WOW, just WOW! So I go ahead and tried it and the taste of the Pho, the worst I've ever had. The broth seriously taste like a boiled water with beef Bouillon dissolved in it. To make matters worst, I was not given the bean sprout, lime and Thai basil so I have to asked for it. It fairness, the server was apologetic that he forgot about it but when I put the bean sprout in the bowl, the soup became from warm to cold. We spend close to $40 and let me tell you it was not worth it. I have been to more than 20 Vietnamese restaurant in the US and this one was the worst I've been to. If you're looking for an authentic Pho, do yourself a favor and go...
Read moreI had way better expectations of the lone Vietnamese restaurant in Ocean City, MD. So much so that I took the chance of taking a group of 8 other people with me. Most gave me lukewarm review.
I ordered a vegetarian pho. I checked ahead that they used vegetable stock and they confirmed. On receiving order, the pho soup stock did not really seem to be stock at all but hot water. The most important ingredient is the stock in Pho. That what holds the whole dish together. I paid $16 for something an amateur me can whip up in my kitchen for $4. It was very underwhelming.
I also ordered the Summer roll which was very underwhelming too. It was filled with raw cabbage and a slice of tofu with nothing else holding it together. A bite into it and it starts falling apart.
The peanut sauce was very basic. Nothing about it will remind me of it ever.
When I go to a restaurant, I go to be served by a professional. My soup was no better than being made by another amateur.
Today, I went in hungry and I came out hungry.
We still...
