Had the BEST experience with Blue Horizon at Oceanside Sea Center. The crew was absolutely amazing and professional. The moment you checked in, the young lady behind the counter was very friendly and efficient, especially for a 5am checkin. We left on time and my family and I secured comfy galley seats and I was lucky enough to use one of their bunk beds during the long ride to our first destination to catch up on sleep. Burritos were bomb and so were the burgers. Brett was an ultimate gem!! He was so kind, friendly, respectful and a great representation of your company. He addressed me and my hubby by our names the whole trip. I think he did that with the majority of the passengers which was a great touch in customer service. Being the only female in the group of 22 fishermen, it was quite intimidating, but this young man made sure I had an equal incredible experience. So did Matt. They went above and beyond for me, helped make sure I land my dream catch of dorado. It was so hectic because EVERYONE was catching dorados and with just the 2 of them, and everyone needing assistance, Capt Jim also stepped in the whole entire trip. He helped me more than twice with the hooks I lost fighting 2-3 more dorados. Matt and Brett were amazingly kind, patient, efficient, respectful and professional with everyone. I was amazed as to how organized they were from beginning to the end. The 3 of them had a smile that lasted the long hectic day trip. I am more than grateful for the successful dorado trip, my family and i ended up with 9 of them, but the whole crew’s kindness, professionalism, efficiency, organization, HARD WORK and friendliness was the icing on the cake! Surpassed the good experiences we had with Stardust from Sta Barbara, Dana Warf Sportfising, Redondo Beach Sportfishing, Newport Landing and definitely Davey’s Locker. These 3 men are huge factors in this wonderful experience. We definitely highly recommend them! They certainly deserve a million kudos! Thank you...
Read moreWe went out on a fishing expedition with Ernie on the Pronto and this group should not be allowed to have customers on their boat. It all started out well, originally we were going to do off shore fishing since we had a few people on board that get sea sick and we were all new to fishing. Ernie guaranteed that if we went further into sea that we would catch much more fish. During the 2+ hour initial ride out into sea, we were given a brief demo on how to cast a line, but absolutely no training on what to do if we caught a fish. We kept boating around for hours with no fish in sight. Ernie would complain on the radio about how there was no fish and we were just going in circles in the middle of the ocean. There were two or three points throughout the 8 hour fishing trip where we set up everyone with a rod and hoped for the best. Every time a fish caught on the line it would break the line or the captain would scream at us, cursing, and ask why we messed it up? Who curses at their customers when we are paying for a fishing excursion with two young kids? Even if we didn’t catch anything the excursion would have been fine but the captain’s poor attitude and cursing really made it a terrible experience. The captain got so mad about our lack of catches that he would go up top and complain on the intercom instead. Absolutely the worst experience I have ever had fishing. It has scared the adults and the kids away from fishing ever again. Who wants to be yelled at on a fishing trip you...

Friday Sept 28th - I went on a 1/2 day fishing trip. It was amazing.. 1st of all the booking of the trip was amazing. I am that person who reads reviews and research my plans. I was stuck between Helgrens and Oceanside Sea Center.. So I decided to do a walk up to the office and see how they reacted to my 20 questions.. Quick witted, funny and Just plain friendly.. They gave me the -"WOW I need to go Fishing VIBE" they won my business just for this note. 2nd The next morning I had a 10 am depart time with arrival at 9:15 ish to get my Rod, Reel and bait situated.. They handled that with no issues. 3rd got on the boat and it was just a small group total of 5 fisherman 2 crew.. Talk about personal and lots of fun.. The laughs started from Boarding. Captain Jim & Deck Adam Gave us the run down and where, when and how and the rest was to set sail. Being that it was myfirst time sea fishing.. They took their time and explained everything. 4th had great food and beverages on board - no need to bring anything but yourself and a sweatshirt. I couldn't have asked for a better day. 5th We landed bonito, sea bass, white fish, & sheep head fish. The unexpected thing to happen on this trip is we came upon a pod of dolphins not just 5-10 more like a couple hundred-- It was breathtaking.
PS... I will be back -- AND by the way I did out fish the...
