We are a service company in North Carolina who used this particular company based off their eBay review. We had a customer who had a older model oven that needed to be repaired and I did not want to get rid of it so we sent the board off to have it fixed we knew beforehand reading their preview of the description that there would be a $75 minimum diagnostic fee if it worse they could not fix the board. After a week and a half goes by which is well over the time frame they gave never heard nothing so the following day we contacted them a day later they contacted us said call them we called no answer they called and it rang two times and hung up when called back no answer. After this cat-and-mouse game for nearly a week it was finally reached bye us and one of the technician said if their location that the board could it be fixed or whatever malfunction they found they couldn't get the part or the park cost too much or whatever the case was at the time they could not fix it. So they tell us that they had another board there that they could sell us at a certain price and it was a good board. I here's the thing with shipping we have already gave them over $130 and the other board it was mentioned was nearly the same price so if you do the math on that that comes out to be a lot more than what we were willing to pay and the boss man here started saying it sounded like a scam. so I got on eBay and let them know that I didn't appreciate how the business was being conducted and it needed to be done differently can a refund needed to be made well I got told that I was not the person who made the order which by far is a load of bull wash because it's my account and my credit card that paid! so they tell me that they had to hear it from the owner of the business himself so he calls them and once again they try to get him to have a board that they have in stock sent and they play the sympathy role of all the customer be so happy because the board we have will get them going and everything will work out in the end. Well I'm sad to tell you it did not we have knots to this point we received the refund of the amount minus the $75 diagnostic fee I was told that I was a nobody to them and I needed to stop "making threats" my threat if anything was to report them to PayPal and eBay if they didn't make the refund so if that's what that is that I'm guilty as charged! But they wasted so much time knowing what they were doing because I talked to another person who had this issue with them from eBay and they did the same thing to them they wasted so much time that by the time you try to make a case against them the 60-day time frame has come and went and that's exactly what happened here once that day frame hit that's when I got told contact eBay stop making threats and stop writing us! So buyer beware customer beware and everyone reading yes no even though I'm writing this long message it goes to show that even though it is long I'm giving you the entire story. We ended up getting a good board from a dealer outside of our state for pennies on the dollar compared to what they were trying to sell us from their stockpile of boards. If this does not sound like a scandal scheming way of making money online and I don't know what is. And if you read any response to this post that goes beyond saying " for were sorry entire matter the partial refund has been done"t you're reading a bunch of hogwash and I would just move on because that's all that needs to be done nothing else to be said and if it is done then I'll come back here and post a update that the problem has...
Read moreThe Repair Shack successfully repaired the control board on my wall oven, which is an older model and therefore the part is discontinued. For people who understand the risks involved and can afford to wait for the repair, I highly recommend. TL;DR version: if you understand and accept the risks involved, I highly recommend the Repair Shack. They successfully repaired my part and I really liked the communication features of their site including an option to communicate by text. Read on for more details.
Off the bat, sites like The Repair Shack require customers to accept some risks. Their website makes it clear that successful repair isn't guaranteed, and shipping and diagnostic fees are not refunded if the part can't be repaired. There is also a time factor, waiting for shipping and repairs, which may impact the functionality of your home. These factors will not work out for everyone. But for me and my situation, this was worth it. The oven is an older model and the control board was discontinued. Additionally, it is a non-standard size. So I was willing to risk losing ~$200 because my only other option was to buy a new oven and remodel my wall cabinet. Fortunately, the lower oven in the unit still worked so my kitchen was still functional while I waited.
I communicated with several sites offering appliance control board repair. I eventually chose The Repair Shack because of their pricing. I also really liked that they offered an option to contact by text message. It was super convenient (including texting a picture of my part prior to shipment to confirm I had removed it correctly) and it made me feel more comfortable about the legitimacy of the site. The responses were fast and friendly.
Overall I paid around $250 all-in: about $60 for shipping and insurance, and about $175 for the repair itself. The total turnaround was about 3.5 weeks. Keep in mind this was during the winter, and during a pandemic. Once I reinstalled the repaired part, I was thrilled to find that the repair was successful and my upper oven is working as good...
Read moreRecently, our Kitchenaid double ovens stopped working and presented us with error codes we could not clear. An appliance repair service was called that dxed the problem as a bad control board. Unfortunately, that particular board is no longer manufactured, nor is it available through wholesalers. This led me to an on-line search which in turn led me to âThe Repair Shackâ in Olathe KS.
From my first contact with The Repair Shack they have been nothing but phenomenal! I directed some cursory questions to their customer service department and these were answered immediately - which, if you have tried to deal with customer service in todayâs world you KNOW is unusual. Not only were the answers prompt and accurate, but actually were suggestive as to alternatives I might be able to take to avoid having to repair the board! Unfortunately that was not the case and the board was sent in for repair.
The turn-around time was fantastic and the cost of the repairs was very fair. Within two weeks my board was returned and the shop called to advise it was on itâs way and also provided me a âheads-upâ of another potential solution if, for some reason the board did not work properly. The tech advised they had found and repaired items on the board. I had purchased a shipping option from them which took all the risk of the return away and the board arrived (signature required) two days later. It performed perfectly when re-installed and we avoided having to replace a double oven just because the control board had gone bad.
It is unusual in todayâs world to deal with a company which actually does what they say they will, for the price they advertise. Customer service was outstanding and the quality and timeliness of the work was professional and well done. There were no âsurprisesâ anywhere along the way and all I can say in closing ...
