I’ve been shopping at Aldi for most my life, great quality and service. I had an experience there today which has left me feeling disheartened from how I was approached by one of the employees. There were no signs posted about face masks, if it was required I would’ve worn one. I brought my own bag because I only needed a handful of things and I had an hour before I needed to leave for work and needed to make dinner before going. An older woman was in front of me, when I got to the register an employee had walked up and was speaking with the cashier. I finished my transaction and was leaving when I was approached and stopped by that employee by the name of Andrew and wanted to check my bags. He gave me the excuse that it was for company purposes of accuracy, when I asked why I was stopped and he didnt give me an explanation. I was quite insulted. No one likes to be profiled and I was by this employee. He could’ve checked the woman in front of me if it was truely for company accuracy, she was still boxing her order up,it could’ve been easier checked, but, instead he pulled the items out of my bag. He took the items out of my bag! How embarrassing, harassing and uncalled for. Yes I was the only person not wearing a mask, dressed in my bathing suit and jumper. But I was abiding by all dressed code and ordinances. To be profiled like that and stopped was uncalled for. I came home and shared the story to my partner, this never has happened at Aldi and for that I’m sure the worker had other reasons for stopping me and not someone else, he unpacked my order and didn’t explain why I was stopped and not another. That itself is a sign that I was profiled because he wouldn’t give me an answer. If that would happen again Id rather spend more money at Walmart next door than be treated...
Read moreLots of organics - produce, nuts, dried fruits, milk and dairy with unbelievably low prices. If you've never shopped at an Aldi, it's a German-owned company so you'll see some German-label stuff like German Chocolate and bread. Aldi is a bare-bones grocery store that doesn't carry everything, and some brands are "off". For example, I went there the other night looking for a smallish size of Mayo - they only had the 30oz jars and they didn't carry Hellman's. I wanted a particular brand of olive oil spread and they didn't have it. I wanted a brick of frozen spinach and they didn't carry it. They did, however, have 4 types of Almond milk and they did carry organic milk and cheese at really decent prices. They had dried beans/legumes, but they were dispersed throughout the store. Want a specific type of pasta? You might find it, but for sure you'll pay about HALF of what Publix charges for it, and many other items - I'm not kidding here! The catch? Bring a quarter to slip into the grocery cart to remove it from the chain (they don't pay for staff to retrieve carts from the parking lot, they don't pay for people to bag your groceries, and you have to bring your own bags or buy theirs for 10 cents/bag). IMPORTANT: they only take CASH or DEBIT cards. But at this particular Aldie's, the staff are amazingly friendly. So I highly recommend this store, but you need to know what you're getting into. If you want to save like 30-40% over Publix and you don't mind fending for yourself, this is the place to go. Thanks Aldie for supplying such a variety...
Read moreIf I have to pay for my own cart, buy my own bags AND ring myself up why are you there? This is the first Aldi where a cashier was not checking people out. My daughter opted to ring herself up. We didnt know where upc codes were in some of the things and still had to wait for the 1 employee because he was walking around and going to the back with live customers struggling to ring themselves up. When i asked him if he can open a register he asked if i was paying cash or card. I told him card and he said the REGISTERS ARE CASH ONLY. which i did not believe at all. So I opted to leave ALLLLL my stuff at the register. The poor lady next to my daughter had so much she ended up having a big ol mess and getting frustrated which backed up the line. This location needs to do better. I'll be going to the Clearwater location and taking my dtr with me. Where real customers service can be found. They have cashiers at the Clearwater location and it's a...
