Haven't bought much besides odds 'n' ends here, but their repair shop infuriated me. I brought in my vintage Ibanez for a jack replacement and a set up- they only have the shop guy in twice a week so I already had a long turnaround time. 5 days later, I get called to pick it up. When I do, the first thing i notice is that they busted up the pickup rings. It was 40 year old plastic and they were cracking, but now the sides are falling off and the neck pickup is hanging in by a thread. I ask to go plug it in so I can see how the new jack is (ALWAYS plug in before you leave), and while the jack is fine, now the bridge pickup doesn't work- not an issue when i brought it in. I brought it to the attention of the staff, and the man I assume to be the manager becomes really tense with me when I tell him about the issues I had with the repair job. He begrudgingly offers to fix the electrical issue but insists his shop is not responsible for the pickup rings. Another three days pass and I finally get to go pick it up. It all works, but there is still damage to the guitar, and the fix was so sloppy they left electrical tape on the back and some of the screws are still loose. Neither a manager or the repair tech are anywhere to be found. Until this, I respected the shop. However, this is unacceptable and I will have to shop at Cap City or go out of Olympia for repair work now. The only positive is that my neck and intonation are rock solid, but the damage far outweighs any benefit. Take your...
Read moreWe're fortunate to have such a well stocked music store in our area. With the increase in online shopping it's getting harder to find a music store where you can look at a wide variety of instruments and gear and find someone to talk with about features and options.
Some people use brick and mortar stores to browse and then they shop online. That's the opposite of what I do. If I don't see what I want at Music 6000, I browse for it online (or I ask them to look for it for me). When I find it, I have the guys at Music 6 order it for me. They have always matched the online price.
Here's why I do it this way. I play in a local cover band. A few years back, we bought a mixer at Music 6. Not long afterward we were setting up for a gig when the mixer stopped working. Music 6 was still open so I unhooked the mixer and took it in. They took my mixer in to look at it and gave me a loaner at no charge. I was able to get back to the gig, set up the new mixer, and start the gig on time.
If I had bought my mixer online I suppose I could have gone into Music 6 and rented one for the gig (if I had thought of it). Then I would still have to deal with my broken mixer (worst case, box it up and ship it somewhere). Music 6 had our mixer back to us in two weeks. They let us use the loaner until ours was fixed.
I want to continue to have a local music store in my community. If I want that, then I need to support them with my business. That's what I...
Read moreSo I went there and sorta just was browsing and was just looking forward to jam so I could see like what sort of guitar I’d want for Christmas and this store definitely helped me decide. I went in and they greeted me almost immediately, every 10-15 minutes an employee would come and talk to me and they were all super friendly. I was there for around 2 hours just figuring out what guitar I really want and I played probably 15 guitars and I finally landed on A music man JP70 7- string and my mind was blown. I now know what I want. Also the way this store is laid out is perfect I noticed that most local music stores have very very crowded spaces and this store had a nice open floor and even single rooms to play in. They had picks at the front, seats everywhere so you didn’t even have to ask, the audio cords were already there as well and it was just a great experience and a great store. Also the inventory is loadeddd, from 7 string guitars, 12 strings, Player Plus fenders, Gibsons, Epiphones, Ibanez, Dean, LTD, to keyboards and drums and hand pans. They have a ton of inventory and its laid out perfectly, the staff is great and no matter who you are and what you’re looking for you’re going to have a great experience. Thank you to everyone at Music 6000 who let me just play multiple instruments for 2 hours straight before I decided...
