TL;DR: Positives - clean theatre, helpful staff, and an excellent movie in sound and picture quality. Negatives - way longer pre-show ads than usual, limited and expensive candy options, horror advertisement played on a non-horror related animated film.
My partner and his sister and I went here to see Demon Slayer: Mugen Train (aka Kimetsu no Yaiba). They had a subtitles version instead of just dubbed which I appreciated, as I watched the anime in Japanese with subs so switching would be weird. The theatre was clean and comfy, though I do always miss having the big reclining chairs, the seats were still pretty spacious and comfy. It was a quiet day so we were there with only about 5 other people in the theatre. The movie was great, the picture quality and sound in the theatre were excellent and it was so fun to get to see such an awesome, beautifully animated film like Demon Slayer's movie on the big screen. They had a lot of flavor options for ICEE's and soda choices. Service at the snack counter was good and the attendant was friendly. We ordered tickets ahead of time and the snacks & drinks attendant checked us in and gave us our tickets.
My only real complaints, and why I think 4/5 is fair, were the price for candy (though this is the same ridiculous cost in any theatre, not unique to this one) and the lack of candy options. There really weren't very many different choices and as someone who's a habitual candy snacker during movies, it was a bit dissapointing. The advertisements before the film were extremely long, longer than in any theatre I've visited before. I'm not sure if this was due to the film specifically or if this is typical for this theatre, but we arrived 15 minutes late for the listed showing time and there was still quite literally close to an hour of advertisements, including one for a horror movie which was really upsetting and left me unable to relax for quite some time. I have an anxiety disorder and some serious chronic health issues and horror advertisements give me tachycardia and make me feel pretty scared and shaky. I wish they would only play these kinds of ads before horror or suspense movies, or warn moviegoers that there will be a horror ad - it makes it hard to go enjoy a movie when your action/adventure film has scary, horror ads before it. I know the film I went to see is rated R, but it's for intense fight scenes. Not everyone watching any PG-13 or R rated film wants to see horror ads, and this is one of the biggest reasons why I don't go to theatres much at all, and not at all near halloween. I'd love to go more often but it isn't worth it if I'm going to end up unable to sleep and...
Read moreWent here with two friends to watch the new Aquaman movie. Really good movie experience. The concession stand is very clean. There are two touch screen Coca-Cola Freestyle drink dispensers with about 28 different sodas/drinks, which can be poured regular or diet with free refills. I ordered the nachos with jalapenos and the chips come in a sealed bag to keep them fresh. The jalapenos were the tamest I've ever had. They were delicious and I could eat a handful of them without burning my mouth. I expected them to give me one container of them however I was pleasantly surprised to see them give me two. The employees seemed friendly and quick to help customers.
The hallways leading to the theaters are very colorful with lighting to match and this added to the movie going experience. We were in theater 12 and the seats were decent with plenty of room and I think they would accommodate fairly wide individuals. No foot rest nor recline option however they felt to be in a comfortable position and we all seemed to sit comfortably for 2 hours. The screen itself had two small blemishes on the bottom left which was only visible if the scene was white. The sound was good and the screen colors were decent. If you're looking for the most vivid colors and sound you can pay extra for one of the IMAX versions down the hall. Pleasant movie going...
Read moreThey had ONE job on Nov 30th and that was to play the frickin Beyonce Film at 7:00. At 7:10 they’re telling us one by one that it’s cancelled & sent people out the door with refunds or vouchers. I tested my luck by staying for the 8:00 showing & luckily around 7:30 some of us caught word that it was playing and rushed into the theater to see that we missed the beginning. The theater had maybe 25 people in there. The experience was absolutely tainted by the lack of organization and communication. AMC got everyone all excited by hyping up the idea that this is some event that they’re honored to host, wrong. There were about two Renaissance posters, one of which was unlit and facing a dark corner of the lobby. They also did not have the custom cups as advertised, so unfortunately I have to drive another two hours to purchase one (whenever they eventually show up, hopefully they don’t sell out before I get there) as that was one of the ONLY reasons I didn’t go sit in a DreamLounger at Marcus where I would’ve had a chance of actually enjoying the FILM. Some of us waited months and traveled miles to share this event with loved ones. What happened tonight was disgraceful & I’ll be happy to tell every last person I meet why AMC Theaters is the last place you’d want to...
