Save your money and go to Westroads Mall.
This mall has declined horribly. We have many children and we love going to malls to shop and eat. We have spent many thousands of dollars at Oakview over the years. I don't know if they have had new management for the last couple years or what the issue is, but they have let this place go way down hill.
The mallnis dirty inside. The food court has about 3 legit places to eat, with the other bays being taken up by weird, gross places - one even has a terrible looking, hand drawn sign that looked temporary but has been there for over a year, cheapening the look of the food court.
The "play area" deteriorated to an area of couple of foam things where lazy parents are allowed to drop their 12 year olds off to terrorize the little kids. The responsible parents are pur in a position of either leaving with their kids or confronting the bullies, since security refuses to enforce the maximum height rule.
Recently a trick or treat experience was advertised fro 6 to 9 pm. In years past, this was not too bad, so we went this year. This time, however, there were literally NO stores except Candyopolis participating when we arrived at 7:45. There were a ton of kids walking around with empty bags, and a bunch of salespeople trying to hand them ads for their stores. This was a poorly arranged mess and a massive waste of time.
We will not be returning to this mall, neither...
Read moreI absolutely love this mall. There is a great variety of foods in the cafeteria area with a large area of seating where you can choose between a more light or less due to the location of the ceiling windows. Seasonal shops are always closing and reopening and are usually interesting at least a few time for window shopping. This mall includes all the major chains I think people come to expect from a modern mall such as Hot topic, Gamestop, Earthbound, victoria secrets and many more. I happen to be a big fan of the Legendary Wolf Games and think they add to the chances of TCG fans even coming out to a mall at all.
There are a few points of concern though. Several major anchor stores, the large chains like Dillards and such, that get a really massive space are usually very important to the economy and general life cycle of a mall. So seeing multiple of them dissapear has already seemed to have a negative impact on this building. Less anchor stores means less major chains for which someone would go to then say "I'm already here, I'll walk around the mall a little." There are now two empty slots in the cafeteria area and I can't help but think that is indirectly connected to the anchor stores.
All things considered though, I really enjoy this location. It's very pretty, has internet if you sit close enough to the burger king, and is just a nice place to...
Read moreOakview mall is awesome!! I love Dillard's & JC Penney & Earthbound is my favorite store. The mall does need better lighting out in the parking area. It's so dark & I pray for the safety of employees who close & shoppers. This mall is my personal favorite in Omaha for shopping because it has clothe for the whole family & a nice food court. Plus Kohl's is nearby & the parking lot is set up great with lots of entrances to stores & 2 main entrances with restrooms when you walk in or walk out. I've noticed that this mall doesn't have many police officers for safety in the main area of mall which could be due to location. I feel having officers onsight give shoppers a sense of security & safety. I don't shop at night here because of the parking outside isn't well lit so maybe there's more security that I don't know about at that time of day. Overall I think this mall is an excellent place for families & a safe place. Thankful the oakview mall is still open after all these years & is a great place with awesome stores...
