Ghasti (or âNastyâ) Park came as a recommendation from a friend who asked if Iâd ever been there. No, I said, but would check it out. He remembered that back in the day it was a beautiful park to visit, but it had been quite some time since he had been there. Well, yesterday, 6/24/18, my friend and I took our puppies to check it out and, upon arrival, I was shocked to see that they charged for parking, $10 to be exact â on a Sunday! (Itâs $8 during the weekday!) And, what was even more shocking was what we saw when we got out of the car and started walking. It was filthy in most areas, unkempt, garbage here and there that some folks left behind, dog poop everywhere, to the point where I canât even begin to express how many areas as we walked that we tried to avoid our pups from sniffing or stepping in it, much less stepping in it ourselves. Itâs obvious that the people who frequent this park do not clean up after their pets. The ladiesâ room, which I did check out, forget about using it, but only if you HAVE to. Take your own toilet paper, because they were out of it, and try not to cringe when you see (and smell) the filth in there! Lots of areas needed to be mowed, and tree leaves raked up. And the lake where you fish had so much moss in it, that the stench was unreal. Many of the so-called grassy areas looked like dried up straw! Not cool at all for our pups to walk on. Whatâs happening with water management in this park? Are there not enough sprinklers to cover the grounds? I thought, though, that since we were there, I should get my $10 worth and walk around the entire area, but very carefully before making our exit, which was approximately 25 minutes from the time we arrived. It was so NOT worth the time, my gas to get us there, not to mention the $10 I was charged to park my car and the experience was NOT enjoyable. What a rip-off! Regional park or not, this place needs a facelift BIG time, and they (the people who work there, not to mention the people who spend time there) should take better pride in keeping this park from looking so rundown. Yes, rundown! I feel that I got gipped out of my money, and I donât care if it were $2.00 to park my car, principally speaking, I would have felt the same way. Upon our exit, I told the guy at the booth that took my $10 when we arrived that he needs to speak to someone, preferably his boss, to indicate that the park was in deplorable condition and they need to take pride in taking better care of it. In keeping it real with anyone who reads this review, let me express that, the pictures that are shown on their website look absolutely amazing (it was what convinced me to go there in the first place), but it is NOT ANYTHING like what you see when you get there. A regional park is an area of land preserved on account of its natural beauty, historic interest, recreational use or other reason, and under the administration of a form of local government. âA form of local governmentâ?? This park is a joke and does not fall under the guise of ânatural beautyâ, and the local government should be ashamed that it has let this park get to this extent. Trust me on this one people, SAVE YOUR PARKING MONEY AND GO ELSEWHERE!! There are plenty of âcommunityâ parks in the Rancho Cucamonga area, namely Red Hill Park or Central Park, which are very clean, the workers give a damn on keeping it looking beautiful, the people who go there to enjoy it also give a damn, and the best part of it all is that you wonât be charged for parking! P.S. I HAD to give one star in order for me to post this review. It doesn't...
Read moreOn October 16, 2023 at 10:10am had an unfortunate encounter during my visit to the park that compels me to share my experience. As someone who frequents the park regularly with an annual pass, I expected a pleasant and hassle-free experience. However, my encounter with a staff member, Karen, left me deeply disappointed.
During my visit, I parked my car in the designated parking lot as I always do, considering that I hold an annual pass. To my surprise, Karen left her station and approached my vehicle to inform me that the park is primarily for residents of the neighborhood. Little did she know, I live just a short 5-minute drive away from the park, and this park visit was a part of my daily routine.
Karen proceeded to inform me that I would have to pay "significantly more" to park in the parking lot, an assertion that left me perplexed. I had never encountered such a request before, given that I already held a valid annual pass, which I believed covered my parking fees.
What disturbed me the most during this encounter was the assumption made by Karen regarding my place of residence. She seemed to take it for granted that I did not live in the neighborhood, making her comments all the more unwarranted and discriminatory.
It is disheartening to experience such treatment in a public space, especially when one has invested in an annual pass to enjoy the amenities of a park. I hope that the park management takes appropriate action to address this matter and ensures that all visitors are treated with respect and fairness, irrespective of their place of residence.
In conclusion, while the park itself is a beautiful and serene place to spend time outdoors, I feel compelled to rate my recent visit poorly due to the unfortunate encounter with Karen. I sincerely hope that this incident is taken seriously, and appropriate measures are taken to ensure that all visitors, including annual pass holders like myself, are treated equitably and with the respect...
