TLDR⦠Wegmans level price for less than Walmart quality. Often go without items because of stock, quality or frustration.
The deli is the worst. If you want meat or cheese prepare for a long wait. More often than not walk away without getting things from my list because of frustration. Always have to wait well longer than necessary. While there are 2-4 employees behind the counter and multiple stations availableā¦. Only one person will help, when they are good and ready. Regardless of how many people are waiting and for how long, only one employee, and one station is put to use. While others stand around, continue their conversations and using their screens or working tasks that appear to me to be low priority. Wow. It is that bad.
Many items are very close to or PAST expiration. Even meat. Check the dates on everything!
Poor management is the problem here. When so many items are out of stock, while others are expired on the shelf. Employees are everywhere, congregating and underutilized, or there is nobody available, anywhere. Isles are often clogged or blocked because of huge restocking efforts at the busiest times. I...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreEdit: I now only use food Lion for 1-4 items. My 200+$ shopping is saved for Walmart the price difference, The large selection and stocked up items Walmart has VS food Lion is incomparable. Food Lion has MUCH friendlier people/staff there but I shop for specific food and the best price. I'd sacrifice clean and mean for the price difference. Save yourself money and time make a trip into the dystopian Walmart territory and see how much more bang for your buck you can get. I'm not sure why I'm so passionate about this. Im just boggled how it's not out of business yet.
The staff is great and nice, the place is clean. Of course the prices are high. But it's the only grocery store in town. The self checkout aisle could have some type of system where a line could be formed. Because when it is very busy and a lot of people are trying to do the self-checkout nobody is really sure if there's two lines or one line and it goes back into the aisles. In my personal opinion they should rope it off. And this is not a complaint towards the staff as I said previously they all have been...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWhy Orange can't manage to get another grocery store to compete with way under average Food Lion is beyond me. The supplies are often poorly stocked and much of the produce still available for people to buy should be on the compost heap. Going in to buy milk, I found expired sell by dates on the milk setting up front. Hidden behind the expired milk were containers of milk with adequate unexpired sell by dates. Obviously Food Lion was hoping people would buy the expired milk. What disappointment in a grocery store. Orange County, bring in another grocery store for residents to use with better, fresher produce, stocked shelves and not deceptive techniques to sell...
