Optimal location of this open space park, conveniently located by the 55 Freeway, Chapman Av. and the paved portion of the Santiago Creek Bike Trail. I may stop here to take a break from riding for a few minutes. I’ve also seen medical personnel and guests here from the facilities across the street on their breaks. It’s a good place to stop off for a workout, picnic and restroom stop. Most of all, it’s two parks in one, featuring the Orange Dog Park Association enclosures. Seeing the dogs play is the highlight of my visit! I’m missing the shade trees here, providing cover on sunny days and helping to deflect some of the nearby road noise. It’s a work in progress with a visible tree planting program. This place could be considered a roadside park, while functioning as a neighborhood park. Be aware: one of the big dog parks is much shadier than the other, so bring sun protection just in case! There are many metal water dishes to transport for watering holes, extra balls around if you forgot to bring one, and scattered benches/chairs for the humans. Some people even bring their own lawn chairs and set them up while the dogs play.
The park is closed on Wednesdays.
The park easily floods and will not be open if it has recently rained or been overly damp.
There is plenty of parking and the park is easily accessible by being right next to the free way and...

The best time to go is before 11am; there are a bunch of great regular that go and there are fewer questionable / problem dogs that go. The later in the day you go, the higher the likelihood there will be some sturcrazy problem starting dogs = dog fights. I use to work at the veterinary hospital down the street, and on average, we would get at least 1 dog every few weeks (after 5pm) that was attacked...
