I will be as honest as I can.. I arrived 5/2/25 from a car accident and they had me in as Timbervillemay Doe when I came in that day I can say they er floor do 75/100 only because they was giving me still pain meds like morphine but no stool softener for two day they knew the meds cause constipation but me as a patient I had no idea also around that time I met with surgeon Mateos who informed me surgery would be 5/5/25 He was wonderful spoke with my father gave him his business card and explained everything to him because its personally is something i like to hear about (t11,t12,L1 fusion 10screws 2 rods). so when I got to the 8th floor trauma I was backed up but a met a wonderful nurse that connect with me and my partner named cymphony who helped me when I explained my situation on how I had no movement in my bottom and she explained why that and that was because the pain meds cause constipation so she in turn went and explain we can try anema and after explaining I said yes let’s so she connected the doctor and later that night around 11ish she got it and let me tell u after that I couldn’t have been so appreciative of her thank you again. Also Jake from that same floor night shift and his colleague I’m sorry I forgot your name he had like I would say maybe baby dreadlocks not sure but we connect great very helpful fast forward to surgery finished late but pre opp did amazing an older gentleman that put an a line in me so amazing I didn’t feel a thing thanks to him and the anesthesiologist did so amazing thank you again after surgery though want as nice the team that was transporting back to my room did not listen to my request bumping things moving to fast me begging them to please slow down and stop rushing when taking things off of me I told them I get it’s late but please be gentle they had no care… By the time I’m calm and everything it’s around 6 am I have everything closed and dark so I can rest Then comes the worst of the worst Kathleen R. Schuemann, MD I will never forget the face or name she was so un forgivable first she comes in my room with the team demanding i open up the blinds which I never did. She said it was because she doesn’t want it to throw off my time registration or something like that which I though was ridiculous because I just got out of surgery I should have time to rest she also walks in blurring out no more doing * while the door which was just so unprofessional and uncomfortable having my personal things said out loud like that. She then leave and stand outside with her team so I ask my partner can you please ask her this for me because I can’t move so when she goes I hear Kathleen R. Schuemann, going back and forth with my partner saying that I don’t need a mediator and was laughing in her face then proceeded to say I don’t have to speak to you and for my partner to calm down before she has her escorted out for sleep deprivation then says I will go talk to the patient She had no feelings her words where cold and sharp like the edge of a knife then she comes in and tells me to talk to my partner and I explained to her it’s been a long night surgery was backed up I went in around 10 pm one day 1-2 am the next day and for you to come in telling me I have to open my blinds is crazy to me and then telling me To make sure my partner gets some rest how she doesn’t seem ok when in reality it was her!! She was the problem her own team tried to calm my partner for how rude she was to her and to laugh on her face it wasnt right I told her I understand and I don’t need a mediator but I just didn’t want to talk anymore and that why I asked her to go ask u a simple question I never felt so much rage for someone she just doesn’t care and if you look at Kathleen R. Schuemann you will see 1 bad review that bad review is her true color she is a wolf in sheep clothing no heart no soul!!!! Then I got moved to the 14th floor for my final days the head nurse I believe Christina and her TEAM WHERE THE BEST OF THE BEST all type of different cultures All full of love and compassion and...
Read moreWe got to the Orlando Health ER just a little after 6 pm. People that came after my husband did, went in and out and my husband still waiting. Finally he was called to have a CT scan done but continued waiting in the lobby. He finally got a room around 10 ish. Nobody came to see him after that. Nobody . I decided to go to the nurse station and was told a nurse would stop by. Nothing. After that my husband called the nurse station and was told the same. after much later on some one showed and asked if everything was ok and I answered"no, don't you see him?" . He said someone would come. Much later on the doctor came around 12:39 am on 4-29-2025 He said the CT scan shows all the screws are where they are supposed to be but there's something new. A small fraction like a tenth of an inch on his vertebrae. He's going to prescribe med and get in touch with the neurosurgeon team for them to evaluate more so the CT scan and come to see him. Also he ordered x rays. Around 1-1:10 am 4-29-25 a nurse, Kenia, came to put an IV, pull blood and give him morphine and sulfur and a Lidocaine patch. That will be it for now. Then the specialist came and repeated what the other doctor said but seeing my husband in so much pain she said she couldn't send him home like that and that he would be send to another room. Before that and during her visit the nurse put my husband in a brace. Well, my husband was taking to his room around 6:50 am on floor #2 by Josh The room (#212C) wasn't ready after all so Josh told us we would have to wait outside the room until someone came to clean the room. and get it ready. Some personnel started wondering what we were doing on the hall until the cleaning lady came supposedly to clean my husband's area of the room but she spent most of the time talking with the other patient ( probably someone very famous because a nurse also engaged in long conversations with him) Finally the room was ready and my husband got on his bed. Not so much later the specialist came, repeated what we already knew and said it was ok for my husband to go home!!!! I said, "he just got here" and she said she knew and that if he wasn't feeling too good he could stay so he did. The following day my husband was almost pushed out of the hospital by a doctor insisting that he had to go. However, before that I received a call from saying that if he didn't feel fit to go home nobody could make him. I called my husband because I was home getting ready to go pick up ( we live 1.5 hour away) and told him so. My husband called the nurse and referred her was I told him and she said to him that the discharge was already signed up and he needed to leave. And he left. They were in such a hurry for him to leave that they actually send him home with a driver. I didn't need to pick him up. Wow! Incredible! My husband continues to be in much pain. I have almost taken him to the Advent Health ER near us, much more...
Read moreThe overall stay was an extremely satisfying experience. The food was amazing. The surgical staff exceeded all of my expectations. The large majority of the orthopedic floor staff were wonderful. However, the night nurse Lead, Caroline, missed the mark by failing to process the request for my post-op x-ray order and discharge request before her shift was over. This created a snowball of mayhem and failures, as every staff member after 7:30am, kept "assuming" all the requests were done. All morning long I was being told xray staff were "backlogged with emergencies", my discharge order was being "worked on" and I would have to be patient. I was eventually delivered to xray at approximately 12:30pm, only to be placed in a dimly lite side room, before checking my name or chart. There was no clock, but I laid there for what seemed like an eternity. Since I was unable to call out to anyone, I managed to shuffle myself off the end of the gurney and found assistance. With the xray finally completed, I was returned to my room after 2pm. As the morning wore off, I became increasingly agitated about the lack of progress to initiate action for my discharge. I would ask every hour, always being told that Ortho Surical Staff "were coming". At 3pm, I finally started calling the doctor myself, I asked for the Charge Nurse and announced that if I could not get a "release exam" by ortho surgical, then I wanted to voluntarily check myself out. The only thing stopping me from walking out was an IV. Eventually, CN Maria and Ortho Surgical Jill came and resolved every single issue in less than 15 minutes and I was able to leave for my one hour drive back to Cocoa in heavy work-hour traffic. As a side note, Nurse Laurel was exceptionally helpful even though she was not my attending nurse. She coordinated the initial call to Ortho Surgeon Jill, and also let Hospitality Erica know I was leaving and I was given your lovely complimentary casserole. This was a welcome surprise, much appreciated and extremely tasty. Finally, I strongly feel that by not processing the required discharge orders, Nurse Lead Caroline created a condition of total confusion for the following day shift that was completely unnecessary. Overall, I still feel that ORMC is the finest medical facility I've ever been associated with and I would not hesitate to return if needed. Nor would I feel any reluctance for any family member to be treated at...
