I'd give this place a 2.5 overall (I was generous and rounded up to 3). There are good things and not great things about my stay.
Good first - the room itself was nice (for the most part). The bed was comfortable and the room was clean. Bathroom was nice and also clean. The only complaint I'd make about the room is the desk chair was the most uncomfortable I've ever had to work from - ended up pulling the extra pillow out of the wardrobe to sit on it to make it comfortable - otherwise it was like sitting on a metal surface.
The not so good - some of the other reviews about nobody being at the front desk are spot on. When I got there around 7:30p on Thursday evening to check in - I was greeted by the sign referenced in other reviews - we're out helping another guest. He really wasn't - as about 5 mins later, he came walking out of the back room. I saw that sign more often than not when coming and going so in general the front desk isn't staffed well.
So already wasn't off to a great start waiting 5 minutes for someone to come and check me in. He told me all about the special tablet where I can order anything I needed, including room service. Great, I was tired and decided I'd give it a go. I placed an order and got a receipt via the inbox of the tablet confirming the order and an estimated ready time in about 25 minutes - no worries! 25 minutes came and went so thought they were just running behind. Another 20 minutes and nothing so called down to front desk. Yep, you guessed it - got voicemail. He did call back in a couple minutes and asked if I needed something. I inquired about where my room service order was to then be informed he showed no record of my record, even though I had a confirmation on the tablet contrary to that. At this point, their restaurant was getting close to closing time so I went out and go something instead.
Came back to get ready for bed, to which I always sleep with the TV on for background noise. Turn the TV on to find every channel with a message of "error - unable to locate service". Called down to front desk to be told they use satellite at the hotel and with the storms this evening, they lost the signal. Really?!?! I've had satellite most of my life and yes you can get spotty signal during a storm but not lose it for the entire night (it wasn't storming at the time). On top of that, the list of channels listed on the ipad was worse than basic cable so I'm not sure why they use satellite vs basic cable that would be more reliable and have more channels.
Overall verdict: The room itself was comfortable (minus desk chair) and their price isn't ridiculous so thus why I was generous with the 3 stars but this place needs serious help on the service side and basic services that any hotel should be able to provide without excuses. You get what you pay...
Read moreAs a frequent traveler, I’ve experienced a wide range of hotel stays, but my recent visit to The Delaney was, without question, the worst to date.
We chose this hotel solely for its proximity to the arena, as we were in town for a concert. While parking was adequate and the room met basic expectations, the real issues began at checkout.
Unfortunately, I left behind two black bags containing clothes and personal belongings in the room. We realized this later that evening and immediately contacted the hotel. The staff’s response was apathetic at best—they assured us they would “look into it,” but after hours passed with no follow-up, I had to call again. I was told the cleaning manager would investigate. Eventually, they informed me that the bags had been seen by staff but were mistaken for trash. This explanation is simply not credible—there was nothing about the bags that could reasonably be confused with garbage. After this, the bags were inexplicably “nowhere to be found.”
Management has been unwilling to take accountability, and while they stop short of admitting it, it’s clear the bags were taken after being identified. I now have no choice but to file a police report and seek compensation through legal means.
The lack of security, responsibility, and transparency at The Delaney is extremely troubling. I would strongly caution any traveler to avoid this property. The staff demonstrated dishonesty, a dismissive attitude, and a complete disregard for guest property. If you do experience a similar situation, I encourage you to involve law enforcement and pursue all available legal channels. Hotels have a duty to protect their guests and their property—when they fail in that duty, they must be held accountable.
Additional Note: I’m adding this because The Delaney responded to my wife’s Expedia review—where edits are not allowed—but not to this one. In an attempt to downplay the situation, they claimed the bags were discarded due to “the condition of the room.” This is a blatant misrepresentation. The room was in standard condition aside from unmade beds—hardly justification for disposing of personal property. No evidence, no photos—just vague excuses. Interestingly, the only items “found” were two CDs, which happened to be in the same bag as the rest of the missing belongings. It’s hard to see that as anything other than an effort to appear cooperative while avoiding responsibility.
Nice try, Delaney—but travelers...
Read moreAlthough new, the decoration in the room (tans, brown, gold color scheme) made the hotel look like it was from the 1970's----I think this hotel will need a refresh fairly quickly, as it just didn't seem to be a crisp look. My corner room had wrap around windows which would have been nice if the tan brown drapes didn't make it look like the stage to a theater. While the room itself was comfortable, it just wasn't an inviting space. I was unable to order tea from room service and bar was not open early morning on Sunday---there was no where to obtain hot water to make my own. Finally ordered from the bar area when it opened at 10:30 and a small cup of tea was $4.50. Not a good value. Parking was $20 and seems a bit steep for area. There was street parking but also some construction going on and hotel staff was unsure if parking on the street at the meters (that weren't functional) would result in a tow. Fitness center was small but had treadmill and weights but was in a room the size of a closet with no windows which made the space feel constricting.
For $250/night I expect much more amenities. Parking should be complimentary and a coffee or tea wet bar should be available in the lobby. Fitness center should be a more open space and while there was outdoor space, it was for the attached restaurant and not reserved specifically for guests. Additionally this outdoor space is essentially a few eating tables (again, for the restaurant) so it's not somewhere you'd go to sit and read or relax. This hotel is nice and staff was friendly, but the price point needs to be lowered dramatically. Particularly because the area didn't seem completely walkable. I didn't feel unsafe, but if you drive away from downtown (take a left from the hotel) the area was industrial/abandoned. There was a small coffee shop approximately a quarter mile from the hotel towards downtown, but it didn't have great reviews. Other than that, there is nothing close by to walk to. It was close to all highways with easy access. My room faced the main road and there was a lot of traffic noise in the morning. I was surprised, as I stayed on a Saturday evening and left on a Sunday..... I imagine traffic during the work week could be disruptive.
The hotel staff was very friendly, and the hotel was clean. Unfortunately, the overall value for the price point just...
