Braywood Inn — Attraction in Oshkosh

Every minute spent in this place was wonderful. ||||I chose to stay here on a work trip because I value thoughtful spaces, unique decor and the intimacy of service and community that bed and breakfasts generally offer. Surprisingly, this has remained the only B&B in town for most of its existence, so when it came to looking for an alternative to your standard hotel, I didn't have to look hard. However, this doesn't mean that owners Nicole and Scott have rested on their laurels because of their lack of direct competition. They've spent a lot of time crafting their rooms and their service, traveling to stay as guests in B&B's elsewhere, researching what made them feel valued and what doesn't fit with their offerings. Beyond amenities, this means that they know how to read the signs of their own guests: do you want to be catered to today? Do you want to be left to yourself? And, when you ask about shops or activities around town, this means they can give you suggestions that suit your personality. Because they're paying attention. ||||As a florist hired by my hometown couple for a destination wedding in Oshkosh, I had unusual needs that Nicole and Scott were quick to offer accommodations for, like alternative work spaces and temperature adjustments.||||Some of my favorites from this stay were:||-The add-on to have flowers put in the room for your arrival (only $30!)||-Nicole seeing us approaching upon arrival and greeting us at the door before we even started up the walk||-The welcome chalkboard in the front porch calling out all the guests by name||-The sheets! And, they offer them for sale!||-The spotless, spotless room (my husband and I stayed in the Belle Suite)||-The pillow spray, the bath salts, and the subtly-scented toiletries||-The big windows||-The homemade, from scratch food! Nicole is a gourmet in the kitchen, and the breakfasts and daily desserts were phenomenal, every one. The blueberry mojito she whipped up for us to drink in the garden under the pergola in the sun was better than anything I'd ever had in a restaurant||-The pontoon rental option. We ended up not doing this due to my work schedule, but Brayton guests get a discount (they'll also rent to the general public), and owner Scott is also available to captain it if you'd like a driver for the day. ||||This trip was my first to Oshkosh, and though I don't expect to have work here again, I plan to return to the town in the future for no reason other than because I had such a great experience while I was here. My stay at Brayton Bed and Breakfast greatly contributed to Oshkosh becoming an instant, sentimental favorite. I can't recommend it enough. Thank you,...

We stayed here for my husband’s birthday for two nights in March. We adored the house itself, and enjoyed relaxing there, but some things were a little different than expected. It appears it’s off the website now, but when we booked it said there was a dessert and drink social hour in the evenings, and while they had their normal keurig/tea and some cookies we expected something different. In addition, when booking it asks if you have dietary restrictions, and my husband is gluten free. I am assuming this question is from when they were a b&b (they aren’t now) but we of course hoped that maybe there would be some bread or something that he could have, but no. Also, it really bothered me that there was no bathroom door in the belle suite. It was such a romantic room with an awesome tub, but felt awkward to only have a shower curtain for a door. I would have booked the other suite if I had known.

Breakfast is lots of packaged pastry-like items, fruit, toast, yogurt, oatmeal packets. I don’t like sweet in the morning so was hoping for some hard boiled eggs or cottage cheese, or cream cheese for the toast, but that’s always the risk with continental! Breakfast is supposedly for two hours but the non-refrigerated stuff sat out for over 24 hours, I am guessing the owners were busy and didn’t want to have to deal with clean up and redoing it the next morning.

Overall we enjoyed the house a lot (I agree with less floral everything in b&bs!) and it was probably my favorite room we stayed in, outside of the door situation. But we felt a little like we were more of a burden for the owners staying there...

My husband and I had our wedding reception at the Gibson Social Club very near the Braywood Inn so we rented out the whole house and the studio above the garage for our wedding party. Our experience was absolutely perfect. The suites are all beautiful and comfortable. The kitchen has nearly anything you could possibly need and their dishes, cookware, and utensils are all in great shape (not something that can always be said for a rental). There is access to keurig coffee all over the house along with a lovely assortment of creamers, etc. In our rental, we asked them to forego the breakfast or the room baskets so I can't speak to those. The shared space in the house and the bathrooms were all clean and the soaps/toiletries were all high quality.

This place is absolutely perfect for our event at the Gibson Social Club. It was within walking distance and helped to make the whole weekend run seamlessly. The place has a keypad entry so our whole group had easy access to the place as well as helping us to feel secure.

The owners went above and beyond to help us with our booking and were responsive with anything we needed. They even helped us by opening their studio suite above the garage sooner than they normally do (that suite is only available seasonally) when we realized we needed more space for guests.

I couldn't recommend this place enough and it will certainly be the place we recommend for anyone visiting the Oshkosh area. I only wish we had more reasons to visit Oshkosh so we...
