A Culinary Journey Through Asia: My Love Affair with Pan-Asia Supermarket
Pan-Asia Supermarket has already relocated to a much larger space, the former Bed, Bath, and Beyond location at 12035 Metcalf Ave, Overland Park, KS 66209.
Pan-Asia Supermarket isn't just a grocery store; it's a portal. A portal to the vibrant, diverse, and tantalizing world of Asian cuisine. As the largest Asian grocery store in Overland Park, it's a mecca for anyone seeking authentic ingredients, unique flavors, and a true taste of Asia. With a staggering selection of over 10,000 Asian products, Pan-Asia offers a culinary adventure unlike any other. Whether you're a seasoned chef, an adventurous foodie, or simply someone looking to spice up their weeknight meals, this is the place to be.
What truly sets Pan-Asia apart is the sheer breadth and depth of their offerings. Forget limited aisles and paltry selections; here, you'll find an abundance of fresh produce, premium meats, and an ocean of seafood that will leave you breathless. Their commitment to variety is evident in every corner of the store. I'm consistently impressed by the fact they offer over 100 selections each of fresh and live seafood, fresh meat, and fresh vegetables and fruits! It's a testament to their dedication to providing the highest quality ingredients.
The range of products spans the entire continent, and even dips into the Middle East, offering a truly global Asian experience. You can find ingredients and products from the following countries, all organized thoughtfully within the store: Burmese, Cambodian, Chinese, Filipino, Hmong, Indian, Indonesian, Japanese, Korean, Laotian, Malaysian, Pakistani, Singaporean, Thai, and Vietnamese. This incredible diversity allows you to explore the nuances of each cuisine, from the fiery spices of Thailand to the delicate flavors of Japan, the rich curries of India to the fresh herbs of Vietnam.
Beyond the food itself, Pan-Asia also boasts a fantastic selection of cookware, kitchen utensils, household items, and even personal necessities. Need a new wok? They've got it. Searching for the perfect rice cooker? Look no further. Want to stock up on your favorite Asian snacks? You'll be spoilt for choice. It's a one-stop shop for everything you need to bring the flavors of Asia into your home.
The commitment to freshness and quality is paramount at Pan-Asia. They partner with both local and national vendors, ensuring a constant supply of the freshest produce, meats, poultry, fish, and pork. This dedication to sourcing the best ingredients is evident in the vibrant colors of the vegetables, the succulent cuts of meat, and the lively displays of seafood. You can truly taste the difference.
And the best part? Pan-Asia is open 365 days a year, making it incredibly convenient to stock up on your favorite ingredients whenever the craving strikes. While they may close earlier on major holidays, their commitment to being available for their customers is truly commendable. They also accept all major credit cards and food stamp/EBT cards, making shopping accessible to everyone.
But the story doesn't end there. Exciting news is on the horizon! In the Spring of 2025, Pan-Asia Supermarket will be relocating to a much larger space, the former Bed, Bath, and Beyond location at 12035 Metcalf Ave, Overland Park, KS 66209. This move promises an even greater selection of products, a more spacious and comfortable shopping experience, and even more opportunities to discover the wonders of Asian cuisine. This expansion is a testament to Pan-Asia's growing popularity and their commitment to serving the community.
Pan-Asia Supermarket is more than just a grocery store; it's an experience. It's a place where you can explore new flavors, discover hidden gems, and immerse yourself in the rich tapestry of Asian culinary traditions. Whether you're a seasoned foodie or just beginning your culinary journey, I highly recommend a visit to Pan-Asia. You won't be disappointed. It's a culinary adventure...
Read moreI absolutely love this Asian grocery store. It has almost everything I need or want! It’s comparable to 99 Ranch although it has quite a bit of a ways to go in terms of similarities but it doesn’t get better than this in KS. Ever since the location changed, the store has smelled infinitely better, looked cleaner, and they even added a food court/bakery! Their food court was rather disappointing though. Coming from someone who eats a lot of Chinese/Korean/Japanese cuisine. Their jjajangmyeon wasn’t Korean style at all. It was saltier and lighter in color and the noodles were overcooked. Their takoyaki was so mushy… the outside was crispy but the inside was so soft with no bite. Great flavor though. Their 湯包 was kind of flavorless in my opinion and not worth the $10. Their roasted duck and 叉燒 (chasui) pork was good but the rice was way too hard and was definitely at the bottom of the pan as it had some very hard and crispy parts. Their Taiwanese style chow mein (台式炒麵) was flavored well but their pork was hard and dry… we got that order to go so we could enjoy at home. Overall, their food court was not amazing but it wasn’t terrible. Their boba was delicious though. Pearls could have been more chewy/sweet. I wish they offer some fresh options that you can take like pig ears, seaweed salad, some Asian bentos of the sort. I have yet to find any Asian grocery store within the vicinity of KS to carry 維力炸醬 so I’m hoping pan Asia could be the FIRST to carry it! Great grocery store though! Food has some...
Read moreFun place to visit. I picked up my preferred brand of Japanese curry (S&B) here since the major grocery stores in KC don't seem to carry it, as well as some bulk seaweed snacks. I forgot to check if they had my favorite tonkutsu sauce (Bulldog) though. I like how they clearly labeled discount items of the week as you walk down the isle, which resulted in my trying a number of unfamiliar brands and products. Lots of Pan-Asian folks were shopping there when I went, so I'm guessing it's one of the better places to pick up ingredients for ethnic cuisine. Not much service to speak of, but I feel that's par for the course from other asian grociers I've shopped at around military installations. The had a noteworthy selection of produce and live seafood, especially compared to other Asian markets I've been to. Pan-Asia Market is probably the largest ethnic grocery store I've ever been too, and they seem to have a pretty wide variety of nationalities / cultural cuisine that they cater to, which is pretty neat. Comfortable suggesting, based on...
