Simplicity KC — Attraction in Overland Park

I loved my experience with Simplicity. They brought so much to the table and pulled it all together into simple to use controls for the family. We had no idea how much they would make our new dream home even better.

We were building our dream home, and our builder introduced us to Simplicity. I’m a pretty big techno geek and have worked in home automation in the past, so I thought that I had a pretty good idea on how we would automate our house. But Joe and his team brought more ideas that really made a difference. They walked the house with us when it was only a shell. We talked through how we use entertainment, what games the children like, how we would use each room and outdoor seating area. In the end, we got a lot more use for pretty small change in budget.

I didn’t realize that home automation needs such a strong wifi backbone. But we have outstanding coverage throughout our house. And also in our neighbors house. I can use my wifi in almost every room in my neighbor’s house, except for the far corner of his sub-basement. My daughter uses our wifi at the neighborhood pool.

The best part about working with Simplicity is that they took all of these technologies to run our house and put them into easy to use controls. We have two types of handheld remotes for everything, as well as touchpads mounted in common areas. Since I am the only techno geek in the family, the controls had to be very simple to use, and these are.

If we had to do this over again, I would involve Simplicity much earlier in the building project. We could have saved a lot on our electrical plan and had a lot more automation for relatively simple things. In particular, lighting and window shades. We probably would have had 30% less physical light switches and let the controller turn on and off lights based on our normal usage patterns. Same with window shades. We have a beautiful back yard and that wall is full windows. Awesome from noon on but hard on the eyes in the morning. Especially before coffee. We could have automated all of that and almost never had to touch a button.

Simplicity KC has installed and configured my home theater system. They are exceptionally professional, dedicated, knowledgeable, and friendly. One thing that is worth mentioning is their patience. I contacted Simplicity KC through my contractor, whom I hired to remodel my basement in October 2023. My home theater installation was scheduled for mid-March 2024 after my basement remodeling project was supposed to be completed. Unfortunately, my contractor screwed up my remodeling project and delayed it by nine months. As a result, Simplicity KC had to reschedule the installation four times and it was quite stressful for them. Eventually, after nine months my contractor stopped coming onsite and left the job unfinished. The contractor left us in an uncertain situation. It was difficult to find another contractor to fix or complete someone else’s work. Finally, I found a genuine and trustworthy contractor and hired him to complete the unfinished job. During this time, Simplicity KC showed compassion and empathy for us and did not cancel the installation. They were understanding, maintained their perseverance, and waited for us patiently, even offered if they could do anything to expedite/complete our project. Once my remodeling was complete, I called Simplicity KC, and they scheduled my installation immediately and completed it within a day. Simplicity is meticulous with their work. They were always on time, and the whole process with the Simplicity KC team was very smooth and rewarding. I wish them best of luck for all future endeavors.
