Traveler Surf Club & Coastal Outpost — Attraction in Pacifica

It’s rare I can walk into a surf shop and see them stocking core women’s surf brands like Kassia! I spent a lot of time talking to the cool girl that works here about wetsuits - she was such a sweetheart and Kassia even visited this store to help with fittings. Sometimes I go into surf shops and I know they have to do it to make ends meet but there isn’t really anything in most stores that seems to be for women truly interests in surfing. Instead it’s usually super disillusioning sexist swimwear from corporate brands that I can’t even use even when going to Mexico or I’ll get vagina Board rash. Not so for traveler! They’ve got Kassia and the sauna and shower out back is a practical solution that helps the shop get more dedicated women into surfing. Such good vibes! Definitely worth going to again ans a surf shop that believes women should be happy...

Surf coach April was amazing for my beginner 1 on 1 lesson. I took the 'land class' the day before which included a day pass for me to return to the club. April did an incredible job framing my expectations to learn and grow no matter the weather and wave conditions. She is such a pro at meeting students where they are and sharing the love. 10 outta 5 stars for April. (Also shout out to Tony as well who went above and beyond over the phone to help me when my gift certificate code wasn't working via the website.)

A few words of encouragement for other beginners like myself, first time even in a wetsuit and going into the ocean beyond my knees. Rented a wetsuit here this past Saturday. It seemed well-maintained, and the person guessed the right size for me on the first try. Unfortunately, I was only out for a little bit when another surf ran into me and injured my arm to the point where I had to give up for the day. When I came back to the shop the staff were really kind and caring, helping me get that arm out of the suit, bringing me ice, and checking on me every few minutes until I was ready to drive home.

Love the setup here, having a warm shower out of the water is a great feeling, and the heated bench they have in the courtyard is a perfect way to unwind. Will definitely be back again, and I didn’t catch the names of the two girls working last Saturday but thank you...
