I have so many fond memories of the Texas Theater. I started attending this theater in about 1940 at 11 years of age for about two weeks each summer. My uncle, J F Jones, the manager then and my Aunt Clara would transport me from Bloomdale, a farming community west of McKinney, Texas to Palestine. He would introduce me to the ticket takers so I could just walk in and see a movie anytime. Each night after the movies, he would count the day's receipts in his spacious office on an upper floor of the theater. Being a poor country boy, I just knew that he was the richest man in the country. I loved the Pal Theater also and the town of Palestine. I am so happy to know that this historic building is continuing to be put to good use as a place of entertainment. It will always hold a warm spot...
