Went with family of 3 at 3:32pm during the Dogwood Festival. There was no greeting of welcome as the woman behind the counter stared at us. My child asked to try a spoon of the chicken salad. To which the woman replied, yes. Then she proceeded to tell us that only "cold plates " were available after 3:30 as she had already closed down her stove/ hot plates/ ovens etc. However when looking on their large menu chalkboard she did not bother to instruct us that meant only COLD SANDWICHES off the entire, huge, display board were available. They could have had that written up on the board to be clear about what was available at what time. So we had one chicken salad sandwich, one ham and cheese sandwich and one only ham sandwich and 2 drinks. Our meal was a HUGE disappointment. Will not go back. Cannot recommend anyone to visit. It was really quite pitiful. My child can make a more appetizing cold sandwich than what we received. We were the only ppl in line at the time. You would think they could take the time to make a good appealing...

Please follow us on Facebook and Instagram at SNDTravels. Not much to see or do downtown Palestine but this is a nice stop for lunch. Sandwiches, wraps, salads and baked potatoes. Diane and I had chicken salad that included apples and pecans. Very good mixture so that it wasn't too sweet or to juicy. Diane had croissant and I had a half sandwich on wheat and a half avocado stuffed with chicken salad. Good combination with the avocado. Dad had a roasted turkey sandwich and was very pleased with the turkey. Mom had a BBQ stuffed 1/2 baked potato. I don't know how you could get a whole one on the plate. Mom loved it and really enjoyed the BBQ flavor. They also had some seasoned crackers that were done in store and were exceptional. Overall it's a really good sandwich shop combined with a antique store. Friendly service. Overall two thumbs up....

We decided to support mom and pop shops. So we decided to try this little place out. We got there around 1pm ordered sandwiches and sweet tea. We got 1 small glass of sweet tea then the tea ran out. Told the staff they said when it's out it's out we are not making anymore. Then we waited for 45 mins for 2 sandwiches.... went up to get a coke and coke machine isn't working. Staff acted like they didn't care or didn't want to work. I use to have fairly large business lunches here in the past. After this last experience I don't think I'll be back and wouldn't recommend this place. Stuff happens and you can understand that but redness is unacceptable. Shame to because it's a cute quiet little place but like everything these Days no one takes pride in their...

If you are passing through Palestine on your way to Jefferson, the Magnolia Cafe is worth a stop, especially if you are looking for local color. When on a road trip, atmosphere trumps food. Half size sandwiches are a great way to save your calories for a special dinner. After lunch, take drive along Sycamore Street to view the majestic old houses. Or, stroll into the adjacent antique shop and pick up a vintage bird cage.
