Unfortunately, the recent hurricanes completely destroyed this cherished local pier late last year 2024. No date yet on whether or when it could be rebuilt as of March 2025.
I give this little hidden gem five stars because of its beautiful Gulf access. Near sunset hundreds of flocks of birds fly by. Blue heron's patrol the sandy area below the pier during low tide. Parents wade in the mucky sand and show their little children the wonders of sea life: fiddler crabs, pin fish, crabs, seaweed, sea shells, clams, conk, oysters. During high tide the occasional visit by dolphins appear leisurely swimming by. The pier closes by 11pm daily and is monitored by sherrif's department. Locals drive by in their golf carts or gather at the pier to pass the time of day. Across from the pier is a small park with a number of very mature oak trees and benches. Further south of the pier more benches with picturesque views of the Gulf dotted with a number of anchored sailboats.

Read moreNice place for a sunset and quick respite during the day. Water not clean and littered with oyster shells etc. Not safe for the feet. Bring HARD water shoes if venturing out and bug spray! No see-ums are atrocious here; of course it is Florida. Coming from a Fla grown native that just the way it is when little breeze is available. A graveyard with sparsely shored anchored sailboats left out there. NOT a good law to allow such. Pet friendly and crowded pier from time to time. It's a gamble. Not cool when the fisher folks hog the pier and leave there bait and catches leftovers on the deck side. Suggest finding a bench in the far north side to view. Plenty of parking and a cute park...
