In general, I would have said that I liked this park, but experience has changed our opinion (see below).
Younger kids had fun on the playground and it was good for long walks for the adults. The playground was not good for middle aged kids, so they would gravitate to the skate park in the corner. The skate park however does not allow Ezyrollers which is all my son can ride safely, so he and his friends felt left out. I get its a safety thing, but at least have something else he could do on Ezyrollers. Also, there is no fence around the basketball courts so kids run through while you are playing which can be dangerous... and you are always chasing the ball. Also be aware that when little ones run off from the playground, its not easy to find them due to the uneven layout of the land etc. There is no easy sight lines.
Update: After my review above, we don't go to this park anymore. Sadly, we went on spring break, when there were teens hanging out. I suddenly felt the urge to leave and got out of there... but my group of friends behind us were present for the shooting in the parking lot by the kids playground. In all the chaos we lost my son's backpack which is hard on autistic kids. I don't know what caliber gun was used, but the bullets went all the way across the street and hit the restaurants with big holes. My friend and her tiny kids were right there when it went down and people in the conflict were literally hiding behind her car. So my advice is when its spring break, holidays, or when the teenagers are out... just don't go here. I have not been back since then simply because my son is too old for the playground and there are other parks where Ezyrollers can have more fun and those parks...
Read moreMy wife and I have a love/hate relationship with Marie Kerr Park. Where do I begin? We come here for our daughter, the various accessible playgrounds do encourage her to be active and play--so that's the positive. The majority of families that comes here a very uppity, so chill out, you're all still in the AV. Security could do a better job as various times there have been teens and couples engaging in adulterous acts in the bathroom. Your rec center... it's awesome to have it for the kids especially with how hot it is out here, but your staff is garbage. Not all of them, but I'm not gonna let someone who is being paid on our tax dollars roll their eyes at my kid or anyone else's kids. You can not force people out before closing just because you want to get going. Be grateful to have a job during these hard economic times. Do not give me attitude because my kid wants to play. Don't not make other parents feel bad or force them to cut their child's play time short because you weren't in the mood to stick around a few more minutes. To your supervisor, the evening of 8/10/25 around 19:52 (7:52PM), these girls forced out a father and his child, and went out to collect the rented balls from parents and kids still using them. I left and called out their unprofessional behavior before they could even...
