Whoever is in charge of Parks and Recreation should be fired. A dog park in the desert should have shade! Our dogs have fur and don't wear shoes. This is a desert! No ware to walk your dogs that isn't unhealthy sun, extreme heat that could kill an elderly person, dirt and rocks. The out houses sit all day in 90 degree weather. I know my trees the trees they planted are NOT LIMBING SHADE TREES. Ten years from now this parking lot will be just as empty as it is now. What a waste of space, tax players money and a shame of what this could of been for SO many dogs and their owners. PS Dogs LOVE grass and they're worth the water. If only a fraction of this park grass it'd be worth another another star . If you aren't at the age when you are at maximum health don't come here. No where to sit in shade and gain...
Read moreMy dogs basically have grown up at this park. I love it! They have 2 sections one for small dogs and one for large dogs. The small dog section is smaller, when we were in the small dog section I really wanted to go to the large dog section because it was much more room for my dogs to run. We are now in the big dog cage because I have a German shepherd Siberian husky and my other dog is a small terrier mix. They have been coming here for almost 2 years. We’ve met a lot of great people here. There are fights sometimes between the dogs but nothing serious. Pretty clean, there’s all dirt some trees and a shaded table and 2 benches in the large dog area. In the small dog area there’s a table with shade. There’s water fountains for humans and dogs. Poop bags are...
Read moreIt's clean and accessible and I believe safe, both structurally and communially. Minimal grass. The dog park areas are covered in DG (Decomposed granite). The playground area is covered in tree bark mulch. And there is a large recessed area, the size of a soccer field, that used to be a street water runoff reservoir, that is covered in grass. The grass is not thick and lushish, but it's green and you won't get muddy playing on it. The area is also ringed by a 1/4 mile cement track. Some covered shaded tables in the dog park and near the playground area. Also some workout stations along the walkway between the dog park and playground. There is adequate lighting.
The nearby Dominic Massaro Park at 55th St. East and Ave R is far superior, but it does not...
