N R Hair Salon — Attraction in Palmetto Bay

I really hate to give NR Salon a bad review but my hair is in bad shape after visiting so here it goes: I have a 4c curl pattern but I get relaxers. I went to this salon for a retouch and expected my hair to be straight. However, every single time I went to the salon the stylists could never get my hair straight and it would end up texlaxed (still a very similar texture to my natural hair). This salon also does not base the scalp with a protectant which led to severe burns and scabs on my scalp. I communicated these issues to the multiple stylists that I worked with at the salon but none of them could address these issues. I went back to this salon 5 times to give them multiple chances (plus I really liked how clean diverse and friendly the environment was) but they still could not do my hair properly. This issue has led to a lot of breakage because I’m now dealing with multiple hair textures from very bad relaxer treatments. On a positive note, the staff is friendly and they carry good products in store but they can never deliver a good relaxer retouch on 4c hair. I’m 24 and I’ve had relaxers for 15 years which have been great but I’m now having to start my hair journey over because of these bad retouches. This experience is also infuriating because I paid $100 for a relaxer that I barely got at each visit and the response from the stylists was always “we’ll get it straight next time” but that next time visit never came with a discount due even though the relaxer barely worked.

Advice to the salon owners would be to offer a base to protect the scalp (don’t just rely on the protectant in the Paul Mitchell relaxer product) and to offer other relaxer brands that actually...

I debated whether to leave this review, but after washing my hair today and seeing how my hair is looking, I decided to leave one . I really didn’t wanna leave a bad review, but honestly, my hair was not done well at all.

I came in for a relaxer and now I’m left feeling incredibly disappointed. The relaxer didn’t process throughout my whole head, and I was told it was because my hair is “too thick” and sometimes relaxer just doesn’t take on thick hair. While I understand that thick hair can be more challenging, that explanation didn’t sit right with me—especially coming from a professional salon called Natural and Relaxed.

I paid over $200 for this service. I initially thought I was only going to be paying 125 but I was told that the 125 only covered the relaxer and that styling would be more. I said I didn’t want styling and just a relaxer and a trim, but then once she blew my hair out she said did you want your ends bumped and do you want a middle part and I said yes , she began to flat iron my hair and I guess that total came out to $95, making my total 220 .

The reason I came to a professional and paid that amount instead of doing it myself was because I wanted it done correctly and safely. Now my hair is unevenly processed and I’m being told I need a corrective relaxer—which means more chemicals on my hair and more damage. That is the exact situation I was trying to avoid by trusting a professional.
