I have loved this place in the past and well decided this over melting pot and I am a fanatic of melting pot, but I decided to give sushi a shot again since I don't really have it as often. We got there today Sunday at around 6 o'clock and it was about overcast 82° day and we wanted to sit outside the hostess proceeded to tell me that the outside area is closed due to it being too hot and because it had rained earlier you it's 82° and not 97. It has been the past couple of days or weeks in Miami with the heat wave and that's what I told her so she proceeded to allow us to sit outside, but only in a designated area , we ordered our appetizers which are always phenomenal and drinks. We were asked two or three times by the server if we were ready to order our main meal and I had to nicely let her know that we are going to take about 15 minutes to place our orders and so she proceeded to come back in about 15 to 20 minutes as I told her , she took our order. The sushi came out crab. I have never seen crab meat like that even though I know it's imitation let's be real. They don't have real crab here the color, pink and the tuna tart. The young lady was explaining to me on top of the role , look like red paste, to say the least it was gross. I ate it because I didn't want to send it back, but I did let her know that it wasn't up to par. I then ordered a lychee martini which came to me halfway through my roll mind you we had no water or anything to drink And I still said nothing then I asked for some ginger to the young lady who dropped off the drink, and I never got that as well, fast-forward to about 20 minutes later. I'm still sitting there with no ginger food already done she the server never came back out to see if we needed anything anything clean up the table and so I proceeded to get up and go to the host stand and I was waiting there for about two minutes since the young lady was busy doing job and seating people Couldn't find my server in sight anywhere so I told the lady at the whole stand transpired and I wanted my check and I was never coming back again and all she could do was say we're really sorry happened still waiting for the server and not proceeded to give me the check And therefore I paid $150 and left. Never again will I be going to that location again.I don't know what I can say about the other locations, but I don't know who they're paying for to keep raving this place and their service when everything that I see is based off of one server and one server only so then if that's the only excellent server that you have there giving service for your guests to continue to come back then you got some really Strong problems. The place inside must've had five tables at most one of mine outside one other table that had also been waiting 20 minutes outside for a server to get to their table which I also mentioned that to the host and one unattended table inside that we're waiting for a server to if you guys don't have enough employees in an establishment , then you shouldn't be running a business especially not with the ridiculous prices that you guys charge for the food that you guys offer. I've been a server and a bartender for the past 12 years and I have never dealt with...
Read moreI sat at the bar, the bar is a very small bar. Literally only seven seats at the most. It's strange, they don't have a cocktail menu. But they do have a QR code on the countertop and that's how you get the menu. It's kind of strange pulling on your cell phone and scanning a QR code for the menu to pop up. I will suggest to this establishment to just get a regular cocktail menu. I had asked for a beer, and the only beer they had was Estrella Damm. Never had it before, it's a beer from spain. I had it from the bottle, and I was very pleased that it was ice cold. Many establishments do not serve their beer ice cold, the way it should be.
I then tried a cocktail, it was the diplomatic Okinawa punch. Made with Rum diplomatico, Licor 43, Passion fruit, Pineapple juice, Orange juice, Hibiscus and Soda Water. That was a nice cocktail. Only 14 bucks. I wish the bar was bigger. The bar right across from this restaurant, Naked Taco, has a huge bar.
I wasn't in the mood to eat anything, but I can tell you one thing, this is probably the hottest restaurant in the entire Falls Shopping Center. Even on the weekdays, this restaurant is packed, so that tells you that they're doing something very good. I noticed that several times that I've walked in, that the service is top-notch! there's no disgruntled employees. Everyone has a smile on their face, and they're really there to serve, and make the patron happy in whichever way they can. This is a Peruvian/Japanese Fusion restaurant I don't know anything about the food there, but one day I'll definitely try it out. I really like the fact that they have a little outdoor section, and it's covered and they usually have live entertainment the only restaurant in the entire Falls shopping center that has live entertainment. So the Ambiance is superb, and that's why so many people flock to this restaurant.
There always seems to be a birthday party going on over there, and this visit was no exception. It's not that big of a restaurant when you compare it to BJ's Brewery ( which is massive in size). BJ's Brewery is also a hotspot. I can't wait to try the cuisine at Sokai Sushi bar. Unless they change their menu, I remember asking them a couple months ago if they serve the classic Peruvian dish named Lomo Saltado and they said yes. So it's a very eclectic type of cuisine. Services top-notch, Ambience is incredible, drinks are excellent, prices are pretty reasonable. I give it đđđđđ 5ď¸âŁstars. Keep up the good work!
â UPDATED 10/21/2025
So I finally decided to try some food here. I sat at the bar which is the best place to sit at if you want to be served quickly. The bar seats are very comfortable, I told the bartender that I was in the mood for a sushi roll and he recommended to me a certain sushi roll that I'm going to put a picture of. The rest of the review is going to be an actual video. Because I do not like Google's voice to text technology, it's always...
Read moreThird time coming to this location and it was the first time having a bad experience. We came here yesterday for the same sushiâs we tried last time â acevichado and Tokyoâ the acevichado was good but the Tokyo roll was just off, the sweet plantain was hard and unfresh, we try to not be bothered and enjoy the moment anyway until we notice that the avocado was old , soft with black layers, after that we just couldnât keep eating, we told the waitress when she came to check on the table after 15-20 minutes after the food arrive, then the manager came asking is everything is okay and then use the words that Tokyo roll â is not for all palatesâ we tried hard to act like we didnât hear that after she went and recommend some other âsimple rolls for all palatesâ, the still water is offer in a plastic Fiji bottle with not crystal glass, you just drinking with a straw like a cheap place but I guess is like that when management and servers lack experience, coming back is not an option when you donât know if that day the sushi is not going to be fresh and the young manager is gonna tell you is your âpalateâ A lot of sushi options outside the falls, hope they fix that because the sushi menu...
