Watercourse Way Bath House Spa — Attraction in Palo Alto

I don't usually write reviews of any kind (good or not so good experiences), I try to practice acceptance and leave the rest to karma. But this experience was so unfortunately bad and unnecessary that I have to say something.

I have been visiting Watercourse way throughout the years for a while, it's been my occasional local spa day spot. I've loved it and have always had a wonderful experience until today, New Years Day 2018.

Today, I was assigned to Lily. She walked me into a room that she hadn't quite prepared for my arrival, which she apologized for and I didn't have a problem with overlooking that. After some minor confusion around whether or not she had given me indication to start the next part of the session (I was there for the salt glow), she became very frustrated and started almost like yelling at me. She was rude, condescending and arrogant in her tone. She said alot, but I won't put it all here. After generously speaking her mind, she abruptly left the room. I called the front desk from the room, using my mobile. A very nice lady showed up, she was kind, apologetic, offered hugs (much needed) and sat with me for few minutes. I'm a pretty tough girl, most things don't bother me much, but this did and it took me a few minutes to gather myself before leaving.

Lily's attitude was so bad, so unexpected, so negative and so counterintuitive to what the spa experience is intended to be. I had been looking forward to this spa day as an awesome way to kick-off the new year (which BTW, will still be an awesome year :-)!! UPDATE: 09/25 Came here after a long work day, was super excited to relax, got a steam / tub room for 90 mins. We have booked six dragonflies in the past, this time we had nine bats. Steam was not really outputting as it should. As I was taking a shower I noticed my eyes starting to burn as well my skin. Realized the shower water had chlorine. I spoke with an employee there & discovered all the water there is recycled. So it’s basically the same water being used as the hot tub. We left within 10 minutes and were bummed. Couldn’t wait to rinse the chlorine off my skin. They should let patrons know about this. Access Fresh water should be mandatory. Never noticed the heavy amounts of chlorine in my past visits especially in the shower. Paying 170 for 90 minutes I would think having clean water to rinse would be included!

Had a lovely hour visit here. I’m giving it 4 stars only because I was unable to get a service or the tub room I really wanted but seems you need to call & book way in advance. So I settled for the only tub room available which had a jacuzzi & sauna called two stones. It was pretty clean considering the high hourly traffic they do. The sauna was good temp the jacuzzi served its purpose & was clean. I really enjoyed the 60 minutes though it went fast. Place is in a nice quiet area. And they are open late which is a plus. My partner booked a spa day for us which included an hour in the spa and then a massage. It's on a quaint corner and the storefront is peaceful.

We arrived 20 min late but they still let us in. The staff was friendly.

The session began with a soak in one of the private spa rooms. The jets felt uneven in our room with one side noticably stronger than the other. We still had a nice time in there though. There's a shower and soap for you to rinse off as well. The robes felt thick and there was ample space to leave our stuff.

We went into different rooms for the massage. I was brought into a room with two massage beds though so I'm not sure if you have to pay extra to be with your partner during the massage? That would've been nice.

The room was spacious and calming with warm lighting. I got myself ready and when I found the bed too hot, my masseuse turned off the heating function so I could be comfortable.

Since I was alone, I spoke a lot with my masseuse. She shared her philosophy of taking care of your body. It was really nice to learn from her and get her perspective! Time didn't go by fast; it felt like just the right amount of time. I left feeling rejuvinated. My partner said he felt asleep, which his masseuse said was a nice compliment.

You have to option to shower afterwards or clean up with a hot towel. I chose the towel. I found out my partner wanted to shower, and I wish we were able to talk to each other before figuring out what to do.
